Ben began to hear a lot of voices. He could not tell where these voices

~What is the matter?~ Ben simply answered, "I don't know why but I feel like I am in a crowded room." Jean could not tell what he meant. ~ Tell me what you feel around you ~ Ben sat down with a focus look on his face.

"I hear a lot of voices, some loud, some angry, some close and some far. A lot of them as if there were a lot of people talking at the same time in a crowd." Jean began to laugh. ~So I was right about your abilities, you had some telepathic abilities, and trying to break my mental barrier has awaken them even more. ~

"So being a telepath is being surrounded by this much noise, How can you concentrate on anything, or stop the pounding headaches?" Jean stepped closed to him and sat down close to him. ~That is why telepaths have developed the mental barrier, it's not for defense against attacks or intrusion it also shuts your mind from all the noise from the minds all around you. We could not learn anything without it.~

"So the next lesson is to build a mental barrier?" In part she continues to feel concern about the headache he mentioned, but also was impressed that he was quick to grasp at the next lesson from a minor explanation. ~ It's quite simple do you hear any noise from the outside in the danger room? ~ Ben noticed that he did not. ~Imagine walls around your mind, nothing can get it and nothing can get out unless you allow it. You control what comes in with your will. I tried to prevent you from breaching my mental barrier but you broke it how?~

Ben answered, "I showed you images of longing, of wanting to feel another's presence, of the attraction between lovers." ~Right, you broke it because I allowed you to break it, so that you could get closer to my mind. I wanted your mind to feel my feelings and do so in an intimate way~

For the next 10 minutes he tried to erect the mental barrier but one thought kept repeating in his mind. He needed to get stronger, only if he was stronger she would consider him worthy to be her boyfriend.
