Lesson not learned

“You were supposed to use the incantation to counter the levitation spell” Victoria said sternly “I’d hardly feel pleased about casting a spell that only left me more vulnerable”

Victoria thought this was something her mother was capable of saying when she was undergoing her training all those years ago.

Lauren, on the other hand, was taken aback. Her mother rarely spoke this way. Changing from exasperation to disappoint.

“Well…” she thought, not wanting to give in and show weakness to her mother “it was enough to counter your perverted spells! What the hell was that, anyway?!” She shot back.

Now it was Victorias turn to be shocked. The air in the room had changed.

“Well you clearly haven’t learned your lesson” Victoria said matter of factly, “The question is, do we try this again, or do I punish you for your poor choice of spell”
