What's next?
Leon gets a job.
“Aaaand if ya can sign her right here then we’re all set, kid.”
After Harlan returned with the papers to hire him, Leon had tried in vain to talk him out of it—for a good 15 minutes—but he was determined. Soon enough, Leon ended up with little choice but to apply for the job.
He signed the paper that said Harlan could run a background check on him, and Harlan shook his hand enthusiastically. He wouldn’t be so enthusiastic if he knew where that hand has been.
I guess a part time job wouldn’t be terrible. Maybe I’ll be able to afford some actual equipment to get my photography career kicked off. I’m pretty lucky that he’s only making me work three days a week. One overnight on Saturday, and midday shifts Tuesday and Wednesday. The overnight was kind of a drag because it’d fuck with his sleep schedule, but he could adapt. There was even a slim chance he could find a model or two between his coworkers and the clientele.
Marlene and Lily weren’t really paying attention to all the job talk. Lily was still pissed that she was in the process of digesting a batch of his cum, and Marlene was cleaning up the mess from breakfast now that her sexual appetite was sated for the time being. He had a feeling it would be back soon enough.
“Now I don’t expect ya to start today, but how would ya feel about starting tomorrow? The guy in charge of training and shit like that can get you orientated so you’ll be ready to handle Saturday on your own.”
“On my own? Isn’t that a bit soon Mr. Fairchild?”
“Nah, you’ll be fine. I’m only open so late on Saturday’s for one very specific kinda reason.”
“Oh?”
Harlan grinned and put a hand on his shoulder. “I don’t know how much a squirt like yerself can appreciate this, but Saturdays are either the Weekend Double Dip, or Marathon Mayhem. The Double Dip is two movies, back to back, a throwback to ol’ Drive-In double features. Almost everythin’ shown on those nights are campy cult classics, blaxploitation action flicks, or screwball sex comedies. Mostly from the 70s to the mid 2000s. A proprietor doesn’t have as much control over the programming as you might think. Not if he wants to make money. But on Saturdays, I only show the shit I would wanna watch.”
“That sounds awesome! I love that stuff, Mr. Fairchild! What’s your favorite horror movie?”
Harlan grinned and clapped his hand to Leon’s shoulder. “There’ll never be another film that approaches the same level as the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre.”
“Rad. Mine switches between Phantasm and A Nightmare on Elm Street. Oh wait, speaking of A Nightmare on Elm Street, is that what Marathon Mayhem is? Franchise nights?”
“You nailed it kid. Depending on the franchise you might be working pretty late on Mayhem nights. Shit like Halloween and Friday the 13th marathons can last like 10-15 hours. After you get the tickets though all you gotta do is keep an eye on things. You can even sit in and watch the movies after everyone is settled and the doors are locked.”
“We lock the doors?”
“It’s the only reason the theater is open, so we don’t need no weirdos staggering in and bothering you in the swing of things.”
“Hey, if I can hang out and watch movies then this is more like paradise than a job.”
“I still expect ya to offer service. If anyone needs to leave, you gotta unlock the door and let ‘em out. And if anyone wants snacks or drinks, same deal. On normal Double Dip nights I expect ya to clean up before you leave too. Got it?”
It was a lot of work for one person, but at least he could chill and watch movies for most of his shift.
“Got it. Is there a uniform or anything?”
“Nope. Close toed shoes, wear clothes, and don’t come in wearin’ a speedo. I don’t give a fuck what you do aside from that.”
“Do you have a way to get there and back, sweetheart? I’d be happy to give you rides on Tuesday and Wednesday, there and back,” Marlene offered. The look she gave him was laden with erotically charged promises.
It’d probably be more courteous to find his own way to and from work, but the thought of ‘getting to know’ Marlene on a 20 minute drive sounded great. If these rides go like I’m hoping they will, it’ll be a huge weight off my shoulders. I’ll have some sort of outlet to funnel my hormones into, and that’ll hopefully keep me from ripping mom’s clothes off again.
“That’d be a huge help Mrs. Fairchild. Thank you so much.” He got up and shook her hand. When he was sure Harlan wasn’t looking, he slid a hand up her shirt and gave one of her tits a squeeze. “I’ll swing by early so we don’t have to rush.”
Judging from the hard nubbin poking his palm, he was right in the money about what the rides had in store for him.
“Perfect,” she said, and turned away from him to continue washing dishes.
“What’re you gonna do about Saturdays?” Harlan asked.
“Hmmm... I don’t know yet, but I’ll figure something out. Maybe get an Uber.”
“Nonsense. I take care of my employees. Lily, you drive him. You can borrow the car.”
Lily looked like she’d been betrayed. “Me? I don’t want to stay up till 4 or 5 AM waiting around to pick this shithe- er, guy, up.”
“Could you just give me a ride in on Saturdays? I’ll get myself home,” he asked. After today, he needed the opportunity to do damage control. Making her stick with him for 20 minutes a week would give him a chance. Probably.
“Yer doin it, if you want me to keep paying for that phone,” Harlan warned.
With a defeated sigh, she said, “Fine. Whatever.”
The rest of his unexpected visit was spent shooting the shit with Harlan. They had way more in common than Leon ever thought they would. At least as far as movies were concerned. He couldn’t care less about cars or guns, which Harlan talked about at length.
Not long after she reluctantly agreed to drive Leon to work, Lily excused herself and didn’t reappear for the rest of the time he was there. When she woke up that morning she probably didn’t expect to be party to her mom cheating on her dad in their very own kitchen. Her sour mood was understandable.
By the time he decided to leave, Marlene looked like she was already raring to go for round two. As much as he would have liked to see what she had in mind, his release into her mouth had cleared up his head enough to focus on some things he wanted to get done.
Namely, finding Ophelia and checking Cammy to see if Marlene had ranked up. He wanted to check Lily and Marlene’s happiness ratings, but he would have to wait until Harlan wasn’t around since he would be able to see Leon snapping photos of his wife and daughter.
I wouldn’t mind checking Harlan’s happiness too. Just to see how the ol’ guy is doing.
Leon stood up and put his hand out in front of him. “Well Mr. Fairchild, I sure didn’t expect to leave here with a job, but I appreciate the opportunity.”
Harlan shook his hand firmly. “Glad to have ya onboard kid. You takin’ off already?”
It was a quarter past eight when he walked in, and now it was 10:30. Quite a lot had happened in the past couple hours, and he still had a whole day ahead of him.
“Yessir, I think it’s about that time. I’ve got to run down to the beach and meet a friend.” If she didn’t decide to ‘fall’ for real.
“A friend, eh? A looker?”
Leon pictured the average looking, quiet girl in the shade. “She’s alright, but that’s not what we’re meeting up for. She’s dealing with some... issues, and I didn’t help her like I should’ve last time we met.”
Harlan nodded and said soberly, “I get ya. Take care of yer friend, kid.”
So much for not feeling guilty about Marlene... I like this guy, damn it.
For the time being he wasn’t ready to stop pursuing Marlene, but he resolved not to fool around with her right in front of Harlan anymore.
“Thanks Mr. Fairchild. Let Lily know I said goodbye,” he said, and walked over to Marlene. “Bye Mrs. Fairchild! Thanks for breakfast and... everything.”
She gave him a strong hug that pressed her chest into him, and said, “Anytime sweetheart. See you tomorrow?”
“Yes ma’am. I’ll come around an hour early so we can see how long the drive is.” Both of them knew that wasn’t why he was coming early.
“Have a good day, Leon,” she said.
“Thanks. You too,” he said, and broke the hug. Harlan didn’t seem to mind that she hugged him, but Leon didn’t want to raise any suspicions by letting it linger too long.
With a final nod to Harlan, he walked down the hall and out the door.
Now to find-
“Wait up. I have something to say to you.”
He was about halfway across the lawn when she called out to him. He turned to see Lily stalking angrily towards him.
