Leaving the Manor

Back in the manor’s lobby, I passed the bag of money to Lucille, fastening the new blade to my side.

“Let’s get out of here,” I said to my party.

“I agree,” said Sofia. “This isn’t exactly my sorta place.”

“Take this, Sir Flynn,” Vanessa said, handing me a sealed letter with the Vasquez seal on it. “Give this to the clerk at the guild, and you will be allowed access to high ranking requests.”

“Thank you, Vanessa,” I said. “I appreciate your help.”

“Remember what we spoke of,” she said, opening the door for us to depart.

“I will,” I said, leading my party through the garden and out of the Vasquez manor.

“What was that about?” asked Lucille.

“Apparently,” I said, checking over my shoulder, “Lord Vasquez isn’t exactly some sorta squeaky clean nice guy. He’s into some pretty sketchy shit. That maid in there is working off her debts to him, and based on how she spoke of it, she’s likely not the only one in trouble with that family.”

“Seems we would be wise not to make an enemy of them,” said Lucille.

“Let’s just get to the guild and hope we don’t run into those guys again,” Sofia said.

“Oh, hey. Can you tell what the deal with this sword is?” I asked, handing my sword to Sofia.

“Hmm...it’s definitely enchanted. I can’t quite tell what it does. Enchantment isn’t my specialty. We’ll probably have to take it to an armorer or an enchanter,” said Sofia.

“I guess that’ll have to wait. Let’s get back to the guild,” I said.
