Leave the room

With little else to do you leave the small hotel room, with little more than your clothes as your only baggage.

There's only four doors along the narrow hallway you step into, with your own room being on the far right. The two doors on the left are closed and locked, but the one beside your own is slightly ajar, with a note about cleaning hanging off the door knob. The sound of a vacuum cleaner can be heard from inside, which is likely what wakes you up every morning at the exact same time.

A few days you've thought about telling the staff to stop this routine, even as you know it's futile considering how they'll never remember what you said this day when you wake up the same morning.

At the end of the corridor is a steep stairway, not much wider than the hallway itself, and you know the lobby is just below.
