Leave the library

After a little while, I packed up my things and left the library. I wasn’t going to push anything with Riley right away. She had a boyfriend, and I figured it’ll take time to break through that. I had introduced myself, gotten to know her a little.

As I walked out of the library, I felt pretty good about how things had gone. I could let it sit for a while and see where things went naturally.

I walked across campus, enjoying the unusually quiet afternoon. My phone buzzed in my pocket.

I pulled it out and looked at the screen.

Pastor John.

I stopped walking for a moment, staring at his name.

Then I answered.

“Hey, Pastor John.”

There was a brief pause on the other end.

“Hey, Ethan. Do you have a minute?”
