Leave before she catches you peeking

Backing silently away, you thank the heavens that she had not looked up just at that moment and caught you ogling her through the open doorway like a teenaged Peeping Tom. Once outside the outer door, you knock again - this time much more loudly - and call out so there can be no reoccurrence of your nearly disastrous first meeting.

"Ms. Naylor, are you in here?"

There is an abrupt 'thump' from the inner office and twenty seconds later the woman appears in the door, her blazer once again buttoned, but her cheeks flushed and still breathing quite hard. She looks at you with annoyance taking in your faded jeans and blue open-necked shirt.

"The custodial offices are in the rear building, they are plainly -" You interrupted her before she got too far along in her spiel.

"Ms. Naylor, My name is Kyle Hawkfeather, we have an appointment." The look of disdainful annoyance changes to guarded indifference, followed by a quick glance at the wall clock.

"You're punctual, Mr. Hawkfeather, but hardly dressed for a good first impression."

"No Ma'am, I thought it best to come straight here. My good clothes are still in my bag." You realize too late that based on what the Senator told you, you should have realized that showing up in your riding clothes was a bad idea. Still if you had spent the time changing into something more proper you would have missed the show put on by that girl on the desk. You can't help but wonder if Ms. Naylor would have put on more of a show herself if you had remained quite when you first saw her. The image of this proper lady frigging herself like the blonde had been brought a smile to your face in spite of your best effort to get off to a good start.

Now that you are able to get a better look at her, you reevaluate Ms. Naylor's age downward by about ten years. Unlike most women who try to appear as young as possible, she's deliberately dressing conservatively to add an air of authority that her relatively young age fails to provide. The tightly buttoned blazer hides much of her figure but you have not forgotten what she looks like with those buttons undone. She'd look even better with her hair down and out of that ridiculous grey suit.

The Senator had warned you that the Headmistress' inexperience was adding to the chaos at the school, noting that Ms, Naylor had a very sheltered educational background that likely explained her naïve efforts to manage the school. She was an alumna of the Academy with undisputed academic ability and after earning her teaching degree at a private woman's college outside of Boston she returned to the Pink Rose to teach. "She's smart enough, Kyle-" the Colonel had warned you, "but she thinks her girls are just as sweet and innocent as she was twenty years ago, and she doesn't care much for men."

You can't help but wonder what she'd think of the show you just witnessed as you wait for her to invite you to join her in the office.
