Chapter 7 by GenericEditor168 GenericEditor168

What's your next move?

Leave and go see the captain

Well, there's nothing important happening here. You might as well go see the captain.

You turn and climb back up through the vent, and then head across the deck to knock on the door to the captain's cabin.

Nothing happens. There's no response to your knock. The door does not open.

There's giggling from behind you. Looking over your shoulder you can see the shirtless bull has finished hoisting sail and seems to be rewarding himself by picking up the bunny girl and carrying her off over his shoulder. She's responsible for the giggling but manages to find time to give you a cheery wave.

You knock on the door again, making sure you time your knocking not to clash with any of the other ship sounds that might obscure your presence.

Nothing. At least, so it seems for a while, until a female voice calls out from inside the cabin, "Come in."

You do as ordered, pushing the door open carefully, stepping inside and letting it shut behind you. Red Tail's cabin is quite large for a ship the size of The Vanish. Only a part of it is visible though, the captain's sleeping quarters are out of side behind a wooden partition out back and in the area up front is dominated by a large table covered in maps.

Red Tail herself is sitting in a nearby chair, smiling at you warmly.

That settles it. You'd heard rumours that Red Tail was a man. The buxom fox is clearly female. She wears tight leather trousers and a white blouse. Given the heat it's no wonder she has many of the blouse's buttons open.

"You're Roxy, right? Welcome on board The Vanish", Red Tail's sounds friendly and intelligent. Her accent suggests she's spent lots of time among the Universities of the Canine Empire. "I'm Red Tail. You can just call me captain. I'd like a quick chat but first - please take a seat."

That's when you notice the strange collection of chairs around the large map table. The seats are in all shapes and sizes. The chair nearest the fox is the largest in the room and looks almost like a throne. Your gut feeling immediately warns you that sitting in a throne like chair beside the captain would be unwise. But where else to sit? You could sit further away, which makes conversation awkward but you still have to pick an odd chair? You could settle for a humble stool right at the back of the cabin, or a simple armed chair across the table, a miss-placed rocking chair to the left or a chair like the ones used in the ship's galley to the right.

Where do you sit? How do you handle this little matter of etiquette?
