What Kind of Duty does Leah "Volunteer" For?

Leah worked the Concession Stands For Homecoming

Leah decided to work the Concession stands. At least there would be some help in there--like Daniel. There might even be some Cheerleader moms who got roped into working the game. Leah sighed as she put her name in for the duty. She managed to get some grading in before the game started. One benefit of working the concession stands was that she didn't have to be there super early like when she worked one of the ticket gates.

She strolled through the ticket gate and gave a wave to the attendants before making her way through the aged concrete area waving to students who said hello. For most teens on Friday night there wasn't much else to do but get in trouble. Even if that was their plans spending time at the football game was always a good first spot. Since it was homecoming--it was even more packed that normal.

"What's up Leah?" Daniel said as Leah entered the small cinderblock hut that made up the concession stand. Chips, candy bars, and every other tool of inducing diabetes lay about the area. A popcorn machine and numerous crockpots transported from PTA minivans heated the area in an ungodly mess.

"Not much...just ready for homecoming." Leah said sarcastically. "Its not just us is it?"

"Nah some ladies are going to help. At least till half time rush is over--then I guess they are gonna watch their daughters on the cheer squad." Daniel said as he looked through a an old fashioned money box and prepared the cash for change.

"You been flirting with the soccer moms I see." Leah said with a wry grin.

"Oh you know...I gotta build a relationship with my students' parents. Its all the new education rave. Right?" He grinned.

Leah rolled her eyes and gave him a friendly smile. They bantered for a moment before three housewives came in and introduced themselves. They were carrying candy and drinks. They would work one window while Daniel and Leah would work another.

The crowds started sooner than anyone anticipated. There was a mad rush of people before the game and Leah didn't notice that most of the male patrons stood in excessively long lines to have her serve them.

Half time came and the rush was even worse. Many packets of chips and candy bars were passed to students who had their allowances saved up or hassled their parents for money.

"Gotta say Leah," Daniel said when there was a lull in the busy concession stand, "Looks like we are nearly out of hotdogs. You know how to sell them."

"Oh lord." she said as she tied up a row of Kit-Kats.

Does Leah Flirt Back?
