What's next?
Later that evening...
The air inside the pod was thick with an electric, unsaid urge that neither Captain Elise nor Terry could ignore. The lingering pollen in their veins made every breath feel heavy, their nerve endings humming with a persistent, needy heat.
"I need to check the perimeter sensors on the south ridge," Elise said abruptly, her voice tighter than usual as she unhooked her field pack. "Terry, grab your kit. You're coming with me."
Emma looked up from her workstation, slightly surprised. "Do you need me to log the telemetry from here?"
"No," Elise replied quickly, not meeting Emma's eye. "Stay at the comms station and monitor the pod's main scrubbers. We won't be long."
As the airlock doors sealed behind them, Emma settled back into her chair, a strange, sudden warmth settling deep in her lower abdomen.
A mile away, the perimeter check was abandoned the moment the humid steam of the grotto hit their faces.
The seclusion of the cavern shattered what little restraint they had left. The pollen in the air immediately reacted with the lingering bio-electricity in their blood, stripping away military hierarchy and awkwardness in an instant. Without a word spoken, garments were peeled away and dropped onto the volcanic stone.
Elise moved to the shallow ledge where the warm water met the slick, smooth rock. She bent forward, resting her forearms against the flat stone, her hips lifted and her core hovering mere inches above the waterline. Behind her, Terry stepped into the deeper portion of the pool, the thermal water rising to his thighs.
He didn't hesitate. Gripping her hips with his calloused, grease-stained hands, Terry guided himself forward, driving deep into her slick heat in one smooth, breathless thrust.
Elise let out a sharp, gasping moan that echoed off the cavern walls, her fingers digging hard into the mossy rock. Terry set a heavy, relentless pace, his hips driving forward with raw, primal power. With every deep, rhythmic thrust, his lower body dipped into the glowing water, his balls submerging into the warm, bioluminescent pool before lifting clear again as he pulled back.
Deep beneath the surface, the pool flared into a brilliant, mesmerizing indigo light.
The creature didn't intrude; it watched, fascinated by this direct human-to-human copulation. Its intelligence processed the mechanics of raw human passion in real-time. Then, it offered its subtle, living assistance.
Soft, glowing tendrils rose silently from the shadowed depths. Two slick, muscle-dense fronds wrapped gently around Terry’s submerged thighs and lower back, supporting his weight, boosting his stamina, and pumping a low, rhythmic bio-electric current directly up through his lower body. Every time he drove forward, the bio-electric pulse surged out from his manhood straight into Elise’s core.
Above the waterline, delicate, feather-light tendrils emerged, brushing tenderly over Elise’s exposed breasts and sensitive nipples, vibrating in perfect harmony with Terry’s thrusts.
"God, Terry..." Elise gasped, her body shaking as the combined heat of Terry’s heavy strokes and the creature's bio-electric pulses pushed her over the edge.
Terry gritted his teeth, his chest heaving as the creature's support allowed him to drive into her deeper and faster than he ever had in his life. The water sloshed rhythmically against the rock, glowing blue with every impact. With a raspy, gutteral groan, Terry buried himself as deep as he could go, his core contracting in a powerful, violent release just as Elise shrieked into the steam, her inner muscles clamping around him in an explosive, shared climax.
At the exact same moment, back inside the pod, Emma gasped aloud.
She collapsed back into her operator chair, her skin suddenly flushing with a scorching, phantom heat. The biological tether connecting her to the grotto snapped violently tight. Her pulse skyrocketed, a sudden, agonizing throbbing expanding between her thighs.
Oblivious to what was happening out in the cavern, Emma couldn't breathe, her mind completely consumed by a sudden, irresistible wave of sheer arousal. Shaking, her hands slipped beneath her waistband, her fingers desperately seeking relief as she brought herself to a frantic, silent release right there in the empty comms room.
Out in the grotto, the steam slowly settled.
Terry slowly withdrew, collapsing beside Elise on the warm, dry volcanic stone. They lay side-by-side, their bodies slick with sweat and glowing water, breathing heavily as the creature’s tendrils gently slipped back into the quiet depths.
Elise stared up at the cavern ceiling, her heart still hammering against her ribs as clarity gradually returned.
"That... shouldn't have happened" Elise whispered, her voice quiet, though there was no regret in it—only the heavy weight of reality.
Terry wiped a hand over his wet face, letting out a soft, breathy laugh. "Maybe not. But I think this planet is changing us, Captain."
Elise turned her head to look at him, her dark eyes serious. She thought back to their first briefing back on the ship—before they ever set foot on Haven.
"You remember what we talked about back on the transport?" Elise asked softly. "When we went over the colonization protocols?"
Terry quieted, nodding slowly. "Yeah. I remember."
"I'm sterile, Terry," Elise said, her voice steady, stripped of all pretense. "Medical confirmed my reproductive system was ruined by the deep-space radiation years ago. No matter what happens out here... no matter how many times we do this... I can never carry a child."
She looked out over the quiet, glowing pool, where the entity rested below.
"If this colony is going to survive... if human life on Haven is actually going to have a future..." Elise turned her gaze back to Terry, letting the unspoken truth hang heavy between them. "It leaves only one viable option."
Terry stared at her, the gravity of her words sinking deep into his chest as the soft blue light of the grotto pulsed quietly around them.
