Chapter 22 by fantaghiro
What's next?
Later, you discover the door to the bathroom open.
After you finished up in the kitchen, you made your way upstairs. You heard the bath running, Randall, or Mom would be enjoying it now. Just imagining your mother's body in the soapy water and bubbles made you ache. As you walked down the hall you noticed that the bathroom door was open slightly. You stood to the side of the door for a moment, debating whether or not to just go in, was the open door an invitation? You didn't know, it was too strange to even contemplate. Calling Randall mom and pretending like the accident never happened was really messing with you. Fuck it. You decided. You pushed into your room and-.
"Tim, what are you doing, I'm in here!" Shrieked your mother.
You swore and babbled apologies as you backed out. You moved too quickly is fell, hitting your head on the hallway wall.
"Oh my god Tim, are you ok?" She asked from the bathroom.
You struggled up, rubbing your head. "Yeah, I guess."
"Come in here." She sounded concerned.
After how she reacted last time, you weren't so sure. You went in anyways. The room was dim, candles flickered around the room and Randall was reclined in the large jet tub you had installed two years ago. He was submerged from the neck down, the bubbles swirled around him. "Sorry mom, I-" You surprised yourself, you didn't mean to say mom that time.
"It's ok honey I didn't mean to overreact, You startled me, is all."
You shrugged. "I should have knocked, sorry."
"Don't be, we've seen each other naked a thousand times. We used to take baths together in this tub, after-all." She said. Wrong, but nice try. "Honey, could you do something for me?"
"Sure." You said. "Anything."

The Ultimate Transplant
Someone you know is given a new body & life
PLEASE ADD CHAPTERS! A close friend or family member is horribly injured in an accident. As they lay dying in the emergency room, another patient dies of a brain aneurysm. Both of them are organ donors, so a surgeon decides it's the perfect opportunity for him to try an experimental surgery. He transplants the victim's higher brain (the cerebellum) to the donor's body in an attempt to 'save' a life. Amazingly it works. But the surgery was not approved so the hospital convinces the families to keep quiet, arguing that revealing this operation to the public would bring never-ending media attention to all involved. That means that the patient will have to publicly assume the identity of the donor. What will this mean to your friends and family? Who else will you tell? Although you will spend a lot of time and effort giving support, how will all this alter your relationship to the patient? And how will he or she adapt to a complete change of body and identity? Many transformation stories focus on the change or victim, so I thought it would be interesting to instead have the POV be someone who sees the change from the outside. Writers feel free to explore a change in age, gender, class or ethnicity - and the repercussions that change would have on the main character (and others).
