Lakeside maneuvers

Skyler walked by the lakeside while calling out for Shady and Emily. He was starting to get really worried. Upon calling out the third time, an arrow whizzed by his head. As his eyes followed that arrow, a sharp pain was felt in his right shoulder. 20 x 2 = 40, 40 x 2 = 80, 80 - 10% = 72, - 72 Hp Sneak Attack Critical, Immune to Paralyzing Poison. Right Arm is crippled for 10 seconds. "What the?" His eyes widened upon reading that. He barely had a chance to glance in the direction of his right shoulder to see there was an arrow sticking out of it. Alas, before he had a chance to move, another arrow struck his left shoulder. 20 x 2 = 40, 40 x 2 = 80, 80 - 10% = 72, - 72 Hp Sneak Attack Critical, Immune to Paralyzing Poison. Left Arm is crippled for 10 seconds. After that second arrow hit, a new red exclamation flashed that he ignored for now.

Skyler winced in pain and instinctively ran behind a tree. A somewhat creepy, masculine voice echoed from the direction those arrows had come from. "If you struggle, it'll only hurt more." As the assailant inched closer, Skyler attempted to reach for those arrows in his shoulders. After a few seconds of trying, he decided to use his mouth instead, biting the shaft of the arrow to pull it out. 1 x 2 = 2, 2 - 10% = 2 (1.8), - 2 Hp He winced in pain while thinking. 'This isn't good. So not good.' He glanced over to the water and saw a rather short fellow, but he was unable to see who or what it was from this angle.

Skyler carefully peeked from behind the tree. He saw a reddish brown goblin. This goblin had a long nose, brown eyes, no hair on his face or head, and a scar across the bridge of his nose. He was wearing a green cloak, brown leather boots, matching pants, a worn green leather vest, full quiver on his back, and a dagger on his left hip. However, the most important thing was in his hands. There was a short bow with two arrows at the ready. Skyler was amazed by how quiet this goblin's foot steps were. He cast Observe right as the goblin stopped him and quickly released two arrows at him.

Skyler moved back, narrowly avoiding the arrows. He turned to run behind a different tree before realizing something rather obvious. He could disable Cux easily with his gravity spell. However, as he turned around, his cheek was grazed by an arrow, dealing half of its normal damage. 20 - 10% = 18, 18 - 50% = 9, - 9 Hp Cux grinned while getting another arrow ready to fire. "I told you it would hurt more if you struggled." At that moment, Skyler felt his arms lighten, allowing him to push off of the tree for extra momentum. This gave him just enough distance to narrowly avoid another of Cux's arrows. Upon doing so, his red exclamation counter ticked up to two while still ignoring it.

Skyler cast Gravity on Cux while falling towards the ground. - 1 Hp, - 50 Mp This caused Cux to float in the air, disorienting him for a short time. By the time Skyler arose to his feet, Cux had started launching arrows haphazardly. Many of which did not get even close to Skyler. After a few more shots, Cux grinned. "Dodge this!" He aimed directly in between Skyler's eyes and let loose three arrows. Skyler's eyes widened as his life flashed before his eyes, but within that moment it felt like time had slowed down.

Skyler used this extra time to knock the three arrows off their path and toward a nearby tree instead. Immediately after redirecting those arrows, time resumed its normal course. His red exclamation counter ticked up to three, but continued to ignore it. Cux's eyes widened as his jaw dropped. "I-impossible! There is no way a slow-poke like you should have been able to dodge that!" Skyler tightened his right hand into a fist while chuckling nervously. "Y-yeah, I thought you had me too." Cux flinched when Skyler sent his fist in Cux's direction while casting Glacial Impact. - 75 Mp, 31 + 20% = 37 (37.2), 37 + 500% = 222, 222 x 2 = 444 Frost damage (236 Overkill), 30 xp and $15,691.73

Experience has increased from 173/1,400 to 203/1,400.

Cux's face was obliterated, but upon his ****, Skyler's red exclamation counter changed from three to five. During this moment of silence, he allowed them to pop up.

Skyler read all that before looking back to Cux's headless corpse. His eyes widened. "Oh shit. Um..." He looked off to the side then back at Cux's floating corpse. "Yep, that's what I meant to do..." He let out a soft breath, feeling slightly ashamed of himself. He meant to beat Cux within an inch of his life, not kill him. This had been a life or **** situation, but he wanted information from Cux first. This was going to make finding Shady and Emily far more difficult. With all this in mind, he let out a heavy sigh while thinking. 'If I had been thinking a bit more clearly, I wouldn't have used Glacial Impact on him.'

Skyler looked over to Cux's corpse once more. A second after, the spell Gravity timed out, allowing Cux's corpse to drop to the ground with a thud. "Fuck." At that moment, his legs gave out from under him, bringing him to his knees. His hands trembled as the built up tension from earlier was released. "Ugh." The stress caused his breathing to grow heavier. "Not now. -pants- I-I need to relax and think of how to find Shady and Emily." He closed his eyes and focused on his breathing, doing his best to calm down. In so doing, he activated Meditation, increasing his health regen from 3.306 to 9.918 per min and mana regen from 3.522 to 10.566 per min.

After fifteen minutes of focusing on his breathing and locating Shady and Emily, Skyler had recovered 149 Hp and the remainder of his Mp. When he opened his eyes, he saw a new notification in the center of his view.

Skyler blinked several times after reading that before smiling. "Well, that's convenient." He cast Gamer's Objective while thinking of Shady. - 100 Mp A yellow dot suddenly appeared on his mini-map in the fog of war to the east of his location. He turned to look in that direction, but all he could see were a ton of trees and grass. Sadly, the dot was a ways off. Perhaps five minutes or so. He started to quickly walk in that direction, too worried about Shady and Emily to think of taking the items off of Cux's corpse. While walking, he began to wonder what he might find upon reaching Shady's location. Would there be a guard watching over Shady and Emily? Were they tied up and/or paralyzed? Or worse?
