Chapter 3

How does that sound to Lacy?

Lacy turns him down.

"I'm sorry, I'm just not comfortable with this," Lacy said. She stood up and smoothed out her dress. All dressed up for nothing. The tone in the room changed just then. All of a sudden, Nate and Jack weren't smiling anymore.

"Whatever," Jack said. "Missing out on a good thing. You have my number. Call me when you figure out you fucked up."

"Whatever," said Lacy, now bitter herself. She got out of the room as fast as she could and stepped out into colder daylight than she had remembered. Winter was almost here, and she needed to be home, ASAP. This was a bad idea to begin with.

On the bus ride home, Lacy toyed with the idea of deleting Jack's number, just to spite him. For whatever reason, she decided against it. It didn't matter anyway.

What's next?
