Time passes, and Lacy tries to get back into Jack's good books.

It had been a hard winter. A lot harder than Lacy had expected. When she had met Jack at that mall, it was fresh out of a job interview that should have changed her life. It had changed her life, for a little while. A few weeks that is. After a few weeks she had figured out her boss was a raging psycho and that she was in more danger working for him than just being unemployed. So she had quit! #killinit, #independentmoney.

Turns out independent money didn't come so easily. Since November, there hadn't been any money, independent or not. She had savings, but she was burning through them fast. Lacy's friends had expensive taste and didn't know how to party with soon-to-be-homeless girls. So ever since February, she had been thinking about ways to make money fast. Finally she remembered Jack and the offer he had made. After some looking and a few hours trying to remember his name (it was so generic!) she sent him a text.

LACY: hey, is that job still on the table?

Three hours passed before she got her answer. She had better response times from douchebags on Instagram and Tinder, she thought, unhappy. But the message came eventually.

JACK: Who is this?

Lacy scowled. He was just fucking with her, she knew. Not many guys forgot her face that easily. She took pride in the fact that her middle school bully had tried to hit her up on IG almost ten years later. Still, she didn't hold the cards here. Jack was the man with the plan. And the money. She tried to hide her scowl as much as she could and took a cute selfie. One that included a decent amount of cleavage in her tank top.
