LADY DEATHBLADE (Supervillainess)

Catherine Zhang aka LADY DEATHBLADE is a member of the Black Dragon Society and is the sister of Maxine Wylde. Not by blood but by shared upbringing and trauma as they were both American-born girls who lost everything at seven-years-old when they were kidnapped from their beds in the middle of the night by a cult of mystical ninjas who trafficked them - along with dozens of other children of similar age from around the world - to an underground compound in rural Japan where their innocence was stolen and they were molded into living weapons.

Both Catherine and Maxine have the distinction of being two of the Society's greatest success stories (showing so much promise early on that they gained the attention of Master Shirogane who adopted them as his daughters, a great honor, especially for Catherine considering she's Chinese and he's a rabid Japanese supremacist who is quite open & proud about his anti-China racism) and for the next three years their sisterly bond was practically unbreakable!

That bond would eventually break unfortunately when 3 years later, one sister chose to follow the light while the other chose to stay in the darkness, not even hesitating to rat out Maxine who thought Catherine was the only one she could confide in about her growing disillusionment with this life and wanting the both of them to escape it together, resulting in Maxine almost getting sacrificed which was botched after the compound was raided by S.A.N.T.A. agents, resulting in both Maxine getting her Mysterion powers as well as ending up as the adopted daughter of Dir. Franklin.

Despite all that though, Catherine - even after all this time and being one of the top villains in Maxine's rogues gallery - deep down still loves & respects Maxine. The feeling is quite mutual as both girls quietly yearn for the day when they can be sisters again! A dream that they both know will probably never come true as that would require one sister to (re)join the other's side...
