Kyne arrives

Ruby sat in the water for several minutes, waiting for her friend to show up. Very quickly, Ruby stopped noticing the chill of the water, her arm and leg movements warming her up enough.

Will he even show up? Ruby thought to herself. I mean...I wouldn't blame him if he didn't. I did kinda ghost him...

As Ruby worried about not being able to live out her fantasy, she heard some rustling in the trees. Quickly turning, Ruby saw Kyne walk out, wearing swimming trunks, sandals, and what appeared to be an old shirt, a towel slung over his shoulder. Kyne smiled and gave a small wave when he saw Ruby's head poke above the water.

"Hey!" he shouted, making his way down the small hill.

"Hey, Kyne," Ruby responded, feeling her excitement welling up. She did her best to keep her voice level, not wanting to give things away too soon. "What took you so long?" she asked, somewhat sarcastically.

"Well, you see, I got ambushed by an Ursa on my way here," Kyne said, pulling his shirt off to reveal a decently toned chest and stomach. "Once I killed it, I had to go home and change, since my clothes got all bloody."

"Naturally," Ruby nodded, glad they were able to slip into the same dynamic they had when they were kids. "Being a man, why would you want to show off your victory?"

"See? I knew you'd get it," Kyne laughed, kicking his shoes off and beginning to wade into the water. "Everyone knows I'm a coward. Always have been, always will be."

Ruby laughed as well, partially to disguise her anxiety at how close he was. True, he had already seen her completely naked. But it was all part of the fun, right?
