Chapter 5 by DT-1010 DT-1010

Who gains the stones?

Kon

Urahara was a man of many mysteries. No one knew what went on inside the blonde-haired man's head. There was a scary, intimidating intellect hidden under that carefree persona of the shop owner. After all, it was Urahara who had caused Aizen's downfall, using deceit and trickery to bring down the tyrant, putting an end to his destructive treachery.

With an intelligence rivaling that of Mayuri, the former captain of the Seireitei was capable of inventing numerous things; the kind of stuff straight out of movies. Everyone feared him -- with small exceptions such as Kenpachi -- and knew better than to mess with the Kisuke Urahara.

That being said, Kon wasn't the brightest tool in the shed.

The mod soul walked into the dark room, which was obviously not meant to be entered. The secret trapdoor was the biggest sign. In his defense, however, who came up with the idea to hide it underneath a cactus inside the underground training room? Some people, who are more clumsy than others, might accidentally trip over a loose stone, and slam into the cactus, causing the trapdoor to open.

I can still feeling pins where there shouldn't be any. Kon thought demurely as he pulled one out of his back. Ichigo is going to kill me for hurting his body once he gets back.

He kept walking, passing through numerous doors with various signs. What they all shared was a single message; turn back. Now, a reasonable person might have done so. Kon was too curious for his own good though, and decided to keep going.

He was interested in whatever it was that Urahara tried to hide so much. Was it a scientific item? An invention that could spit out fake Hollows? A machine that helped you dress in the morning?

Alright, his imagination was limited when it came to science, but he was number one when it came to perverted fantasies!

The dark, unwelcome hallway ended at a relatively small room. There were a handful of monitors placed against the wall, and several containers littered the room.

"Ugh, it's just an old storage room." Kon sighed. Such a letdown. And here he thought it would be something really cool. "Does Urahara enjoy messing with people? I bet there's some secret camera somewhere. That damn hat freak is probably laughing his ass off right now, making me walk this entire distance."

But why go through so much effort to conceal a storage facility? As much of a joker as he was, Urahara was also incredibly lazy. So much so that he relied on Tessai and the brats to run the shop. He'd even asked Kon to help out, seeing as Ichigo was off visiting his friends in Soul Society. Not exactly a great way to spend his weekend, even if it allowed him to use this body.

Kon hummed as he began to casually search the storage room. He didn't find much; just trinkets and gadgets. Nothing that screamed 'awesome' or 'cool'. Just dull, dusty scrap.

Except for a large pedestal with three glowing stones; yellow, blue and purple.

"Ooh, shiny!"

There was no hesitation. Kon immediately ran over to the pedestal, marveling at the stones that shone in the dark. Even he could see that there was something special about them. Standing so close allowed him to sense the energy with the seemingly harmless stones.

He wondered what they were though. Kon doubted that they were toys made by Urahara. As he looked for answers, his gaze fell on a notebook on the table next to the pedestal.

The cover was somewhat worn, and judging by the dust it had accumulated, was decades old. Maybe even from before Urahara had fled to the world of the living. Kon usually didn't read all too much unless it was ero-manga, but he gladly made an exception.

"Let's see here... A study of the mysterious, powerful infinity stones. Huh, must be these three." Kon read out loud.

The first page wasn't anything special. Just a bunch of thoughts and notes from Urahara; how he found the stones in a secluded part of the seireitei, how there were actually six instead of three, how he'd began researching them and so on. Just general information.

What did stand out, however, was the detailed description of what these stones were capable of. Kon couldn't believe his eyes -- or Ichigo's to be precise -- as he absorbed every bit of detail.

These infinity stones were capable of mind-boggling feats! For example, the blue stone was supposedly the space stone; a tool capable of altering space itself, and could be used to transport someone to whatever location the wielder had in mind. The purple one was called the power stone, which possessed incredibly amounts of energy. More than every soul reaper combined! Lastly, the mind stone; one that could influence people's minds, including the wielder's.

Kon read through all of Urahara's personal notes. He didn't even notice time passing by.

Apparently the man had found the stones inside an old ruin, somewhere underneath the soul society. A tomb dating back to the age of when the soul king still mingled with the normal riffraff. There were six in total though. Turned out that the soul reapers had confiscated the others, in order to safely store them away.

That Urahara had gotten away with it was quite the mystery. Still, the shopkeeper hadn't been able to make use of them, and when the trouble with Aizen started, he'd abandoned his research. The legends were just too vague, and while there was indeed something about special about the stones, he'd been unable to use them.

Kon scratched his head in confusion. This sounded too simplistic. However, he was also curious as to whether or not he could make the stones work.

Grabbing the stones, Kon contemplated on where he should try them out. The underground training cave was a good spot in normal circumstances, were it not for the fact that Urahara would then find out. Kon didn't want to alert anyone about this.

No, the best option was Ichigo's room. Isshin, Yuzu and Karin were away for the rest of the weekend. It was also secluded enough, and relatively peaceful. Yeah! He had to get back home and--

A blue, swirling portal appeared behind Kon, causing him to stumble into it. He barely managed to swipe the notebook and the rest of the stones before landing on a familiar wooden floor. Kon jumped up, slowly recognizing his surroundings as Ichigo's bedroom.

He looked down at the space stone; it glowed brightly, but then dulled as the portal closed. It worked. It actually worked!

He'd only thought of wanting to go back home, and the stone had done as he asked. Still, he felt drained all of a sudden. Kon quickly scanned the diary in a search for answers.

Apparently the stones consumed a person's spiritual energy, unless you used a medium of sorts. Something to contain the stones. In other words, he had to be careful and find something of use.

Kon opened a nearby drawer, retrieving a thick glove that belonged to Rukia. His favorite big sis had gotten used to living with his roommate/owner, which explained why some of her stuff was stored in there. Sadly no panties or bras.

Nevertheless, the glove was good enough. Kon grabbed a sewing needle, having learned how to sew from Ishida after his doll form being damaged too much, and placed the space stone on the glove. It'd be difficult, but he could probably manage.

At least, that's what he thought. Kon was pleasantly surprised to see the stones settle in themselves, fusing with the material. As if they had a will of their own, and reacted to his wishes.

When everything was said and done, Kon held a glove containing three infinity stones in his palm, ready for use.

What's next?
