There were many openings for skilled laborers and guards, but Hans didn't want those. He needed an occupation that gave lots of leeway to his schedule.

Hunting for girls was hard work, and Hans needed flexibility more than stability at the moment. Once he marries and impregnates a couple girls, he could apply for local government support and benefits. Then, he could switch to stable options to support his future family.
