Knowing the players

Valerie looked around at the table. Aside from her, five men and two women were seated at the table. Out of the men, two could conceivably be her target she needed more information before she could know for certain.

The first round happened quickly, and one of the other women won. While the winnings were being collected, she noticed that one of the players sitting furthest away from her. He felt strangely familiar, and he seemed to be staring quite intently at her.

Another round commenced. Several players folded, and the round passed quickly. She managed to win this time. She leaned forward as she collected her chips, getting a closer look at this man. He lowered his glasses as their eyes met. She almost jumped in surprise.

It was Hawk!

What was he doing here? She wanted to say something, but she noticed the dealer and other players staring at her for holding up the game. "Sorry", she said, sitting back on her seat as new cards were flicked at a rapid fire pace.

A few more rounds went on, and players began to lose all their chips and be eliminated. She managed to hang in the game, trying to find which one of the men was 'Boyle'.

The game was in its final stages now. Four players remained - herself, Hawk, and two other men. One of them was her target - but which one? She still didn't have enough information, and as the bets were declared, she had to go all in, as she didn't have enough chips to match the other bids.

As the round finished, the cards were flipped up. To her dismay, one of the other players had a better hand. She had lost all her chips.

"I'm sorry Ma'am, but your game is over.", she heard the dealer say.
