Chapter 2 by nothingmaj0r nothingmaj0r

What's next?

Kim knocks on the door.

Kimberly wasted no time in traversing the concrete path that cut through the Watts' massive lawn. The thick, wooden double doors at the front of the house looked a lot bigger up close, she realized as she came upon it, at an even 5 feet tall, the door was about twice Kim's height. The door's themselves looked opulent as well as intimidating, with gilded doorknobs and appropriately massive, brass doorknockers. Her hand was like that of a child when she gripped the knocker, but she still pulled it back anyways and let out a loud knock on the door.

About half a minute went by and she considered knocking again, but then, the left door opened slowly. It opened to a wide enough berth so that a person could walk through, and Kim saw a woman in the gap. She must have been the mother, she thought. The woman must have been in her forties, but she looked younger than she truly was. She had long, black hair which had been combed until it shone, she wore a simple yet elegant red dress that must have cost hundreds. Standing in a sexy pair of high heels, she looked far more womanly than Kimberly ever could.

She smiled as she met eyes with Kim, even her teeth looked perfect. "You must be the new servant my husband paid for." She stepped to the side, and Kim walked through the gap, feeling more than a little nervous. "My name is Alice by the way. The rest of the family isn't here yet, but you can go and look at your room until my husband gets home. He and the kids have been really excited to meet you, it's all they've been talking about lately."

Kimberly was only half listening to Alice as she talked. Kim was too distracted by the sheer size of everything in the mansion. The front door led directly to a massive living room with enough furniture to seat upwards of forty people. Beyond that she could see at least half a dozen different doors and doorways to other rooms, and there were two other stories worth of rooms just on top of the first floor. It was all a lot for Kim to take in, it would take hours just for her to have seen every room. "Um, where is my room exactly?"

Alice smiled at her. "Oh, it'll be on the second floor, there should be a letter taped to the front of it. Don't worry about the letter too much, you can read it at your own time. It's just so that you know what is expected of you while you're living here. We don't want to surprise you with any curveballs or anything." She laughed at her own joke, it was a high pitched sound, and it made Kim feel like she was being laughed at.

"Okay. Thank you, Alice." Kim said, trying to be polite. Okay, she thought to herself, second floor it is.
