Kill him!

You grin and spin your gladius in your hand. Time to kill another one of these scum. With a yell, you rush forward, cutting down one of the men between you and the massive one with a single blow.

As you swing your sword toward the big man, though, he wheels around toward you. He's carrying a massive maul, and you just barely manage to twist out of the way as he brings it down into the place you were standing. It booms against the earth, and your charge is ruined. Gritting your teeth, you stab at him, but you only land a glancing blow.

"Stupid princeling," the brute snarls. Twisting, he swings the maul around toward you, and catches you in the ribs. Your armored coat absorbs most of the blow, though, and you simply stagger on your feet. Gritting your teeth, you seize the haft of his maul with your free hand and yank him closer, stabbing upward into his chest as you let out a bellow. The man groans and falls away from you, spasming. You jerk your sword free with unsteady hands, but as you catch your breath you can see that your men appear to be putting down the last of these bandits. Your **** seems to have been successful!
