Keyleth the Half-elf Sorceress of Alexandria

A tall well-dressed red-haired woman was led into the mansion library. A moment later Rebecca emerged from her private study.

"Keyleth the Half-elf Sorceress of Alexandria! I am Miss Queens, soon to be Mrs. Smith. You can call me Rebecca," The Life Binders' High Matron said shaking the tutor's hand.

"Rebecca Queens, Congratulations! and Congratulations!" Keyleth said looking to Rebecca's large pregnant middle.

"Thank you, shall we?" Rebecca asked as a maid put snacks in the sitting area.

The two quietly sat on the Library Couches as the maid served tea.

"You have a lovely collection of books. I bet you're looking at them with a new eye, now that you learned magic was real," Keyleth said taking a cup of tea.

Rebecca thought of her '3rd-Eye' at the mention of eye.

"Oh, yes the books ... I can't tell anymore ... what is fact or fiction," Rebecca lied with a laugh.

"Same for me, many myths I read as a child I later discovered were real," Keyleth said before drawing a circle in the air.

At that Keyleths ears became pointed, and her clothes transformed into robes.

"Forgive me for the sudden display. Half-elves' ears might be smaller than full-blood elves, but they do stand out," Keyleth said adjusting her outfit.

"Oh ... you can tell your Jinn guard to remove his invisibility. I have excellent hearing, and there is no sense wasting his mana," Keyleth said before taking a biscuit.

Rebecca was surprised at her guest's quick discovery. But she had to remind herself that she got the best tutors money can buy.

"Steven, do as she says. Sorry, we had a magical attack recently," Rebecca said watching as the hidden Jinn Soldier appeared in the corner.

"Oh, good heavens. in the Los Angeles Life Coven's Territory, Is that why you called? I specialize in transformations and elemental magics. I haven't built a magical defense in years," Keyleth said in surprise.

"No, no, nothing like that. We have protection now," Rebecca said gesturing as the secret guard walked and stood by the door.

"I am solely interested in you teaching my Coven all you can. As fast as you can. Please understand that my girls are scared. They want to quickly learn magic. We all were a part of the Los Angeles Life Coven's Sunny Day Mall Breeding Ritual. Luckily we became some of the few who got our Wombs 'Awakened'. But the breeding passes and the recent attack here ... I believe it necessary to get the magical basics fast," Rebecca said before giving a smile.

Rebecca didn't voice her true feeling about the LA Life Coven and the ethics of mind control. But she was reminded that she was one of the few 'Soul-Linked' with Luke who wasn't sworn to secrecy. Everyone else couldn't voice their true feeling about the LA Life Coven or talk about magic outside the Life-Binders. That left her as the only one able to conduct the interviews.

"On that note," Rebecca said following Keyleth's hand.

"If you sign on to help my coven you should know. I am setting up a Fertility Center. I am going to fuel my coven with mana only from women who want to get pregnant," Rebecca said firmly.

"Interesting, but wouldn't that imply your members working the center?" Keyleth asked leaning in.

"Yes, and no. Most of my girls are employees of my Clothing Store at the Sunny Day Mall. I am constructing the Fertility Center next door. Women can seek fertility help, spa treatments, physical therapy, pregnant yoga, Lamaze classes, and maternity clothes all in one place," Rebecca explained.

"That sounds amazing. I have heard of a few small Life Covens doing that. But isn't that the same mall as your 'Awakening'? How will you generate any Soul Energy if all the local women are already pregnant?" Keyleth asked confused.

"That's the best part. I intend to monopolize the marketing opportunity left by The Sunny Day Breeding Ritual. I know the LA Life Coven made the locals accept the new pregnancies. But word will still spread. And when people start looking for answers. My Fertility Center will be a plausible explanation. At least more plausible than whatever the LA Life Coven comes up with. Ladies seeking fertility help will hear rumors of the localized baby boom. I intend to run a few advertisements once the center is up and running." Rebecca said excitedly.

"Clever, I can see how you made your fortune. I bet the LA Life Coven has moved on. They probably are planning their next ritual instead of cultivating more ethical methods," Keyleth said with a laugh.

"I am glad we share similar views," Rebecca said with a smile.

"So what is next? Did you have questions for me? How much time do we have left?" Keyleth asked drawing a circle on the table.

A moment later an odd wooden phone appeared next to the teapot.

"Never fear, we have plenty of time. In fact, I would like you to stay for dinner. And I have a spare room if you want to avoid a hotel," Rebecca said eyeing Keyleths wooden phone.

"Fantastic! I would love to stay the night," Keyleth said putting her phone down.

"I need to tell you, I am interviewing 2 other tutors today. They will also be invited to dinner and offered a room," Rebecca said pulling out a notepad.

"Smart again, making us compete. This seems like a promising gig," Keyleth thought to herself.

The two Life Wiches chatted for an hour. Keyleth was thoroughly questioned as a tutor candidate. At the end of the hour, Rebecca explained the immediate need for magical expertise.
