Kevin and the Public Humiliation Tour
The rule started small.
It started at a Target, on a Tuesday, because Kayla needed shampoo and Kevin had a car and Kevin, per family law, had to drive her anywhere she wanted because he was "the man of the trip" and the trip apparently had no end date.
Kevin came downstairs wearing a t-shirt. Under it: the bra. Because Mom had said *24/7* and Mom's word was law.
Kayla looked at him in the doorway for a long moment.
"Take it off," she said.
"Take *what* off."
"The bra. Under the shirt. Take it off."
"I'm wearing a *t-shirt*—"
"*That's the point.* You can't *see* it through a t-shirt. What's the *point* of a bra you can't see?"
"That's not how *bras*—"
"Take it off."
Kevin took it off. They went to Target.
It was fine. It was normal. He looked normal. For forty-five minutes, Kevin was a normal, unremarkable, mildly short man in a gray t-shirt, walking the aisles with his sister, and nobody looked at his chest, and it was the best forty-five minutes of his adult life.
Then they passed the water fountain.
And Kayla stopped.
And Kayla looked at the water fountain.
And Kevin, who had known Kayla for eighteen years, felt his smooth little legs go cold.
"No," he said.
"Yes," said Kayla.
"*No*—"
She filled her hand. She turned. She flicked it.
Four ounces of room-temperature water landed dead-center on Kevin's sternum, and spread, and soaked *straight* through the thin cotton, and the fabric went *transparent* and *clung*, and two distinct, round, perky points appeared on the front of Kevin's shirt like they'd been cast in plaster.
The shirt stuck to his chest. It stuck to his *swells*. It outlined *everything*.
Kayla made a sound like a kettle.
"OH MY *GOD*," she said, at full volume, in the middle of a Target, at 4:30 on a Tuesday. "OH MY *GOD*, KEVIN. LOOK AT THEM. *LOOK AT THEM.*"
People looked. People *stopped*. A woman in the next aisle turned her cart around to get a better angle.
Kevin crossed his arms over his chest. It made it worse. It *squished* them.
"THEY'RE *PERKY*," Kayla yelled. "THEY'RE LITTLE AND THEY'RE *PERKY* AND THEY'RE *POINTING*—"
"I *know*—"
"THEY'RE POINTING AT *THINGS*—"
She took a photo. Then she took six more. Then she took a *video*, panning slowly from his face to his chest and back, saying nothing, letting the silence do the work.
Kevin bought the shampoo. Kevin drove home in silence. Kevin's shirt was still wet.
And from that day forward, the routine was *ritual*.
---
It happened at the mall. It happened at a coffee shop. It happened at a barbecue, in front of cousins, at a graduation party, at a *funeral* — Kevin attended a funeral with two wet circles on his chest and his own aunt asked him, genuinely, sincerely, out of concern, if he was *nursing*.
It happened because the rule was *always* the same: no bra. And then, wherever there was water — a fountain, a bottle, a hose, a *puddle*, a *sprinkler*, once a *birdbath* — Kayla or Mia or Sasha or Jade would find it and use it.
And every time, without exception, every single girl in the vicinity laughed.
Not *with* him. Not *at* him in a mean way. Worse. In a *warm*, *fond*, *delighted* way. The way you laugh at a small dog doing something clever. The way you laugh at a baby. They laughed at Kevin the way you laugh at something *cute*, and Kevin was twenty-five, and *cute* was the wound that would not heal.
"They're so *round*," said Sasha, at a frozen yogurt place, admiring the wet outline through his shirt. "They're *rounder* than mine."
"They're rounder than *mine*," said Jade, who was five-eleven.
"They're rounder than *all of ours*," said Kayla. "Combined."
Kevin ate his frozen yogurt with his arms crossed.
---
And then, in August, the friends came.
Kevin's friends. His *guy* friends. His actual, adult, male, twenty-five-year-old *guy* friends — Derek, Tony, and Marcus, who Kevin had known since middle school, who had *watched him grow up*, who had never once questioned his masculinity because they'd all been equally unimpressive together and that was the deal.
They came over on a Saturday. They came over because Kevin had, in a fit of optimism, invited them, thinking: *four girls, three guys, they cancel out, it'll be fine.*
It was not fine.
Kevin answered the door. Kevin was wearing the bra — because Mom's rule — under a *white* t-shirt, which meant two soft outlines. Kevin's hair was fine. Kevin's shirt was dry.
Derek looked at him. Tony looked at him. Marcus looked at him.
"Bro," said Derek.
"What."
"Bro."
"*What.*"
"Are you wearing a *bra*."
"It's a *chest support garment*—"
"It's a *bra*."
"It's *technically*—"
Marcus, without saying a word, reached out and *poked* Kevin's chest. Just one finger. Right into the left swell. And the whole thing *jiggled*, and the finger *sank in* a little, and Marcus pulled his hand back like he'd touched something hot.
"Oh my *God*," said Marcus.
"I have *pecs*—"
"Bro, they're *squishy*. Pecs aren't *squishy*. Pecs are *hard*. Those are *squishy*. Those are *tits*."
The girls heard the commotion and came out. All four of them. Tall, tan, glossy, and *thrilled*.
And the girls, sensing prey, deployed the full protocol.
"Sit," said Kayla.
Kevin sat.
"*Lay* down."
Kevin lay down. On the living room rug. On his back. In front of his three best friends and four teenage girls.
And then the girls lined up, in order, and sat down on the couch and the ottoman and the floor, and extended their legs, and put their feet in Kevin's face.
In *stockings*. Because they'd planned it. Because Mia had "just happened to be wearing" black opaque tights, and Sasha had nude sheer ones, and Jade had ribbed grey thigh-highs with *toes*, and Kayla had plain black cotton with a little white bow at the ankle. Four pairs of stockinged feet. Four pairs of feet in tights. And Kevin's face, on the floor, right underneath all of them.
"Mia first," said Kayla.
Mia put her foot on Kevin's face. Not *near* his face. *On* it. Sole down, right across his nose and mouth, and pressed, gently but *firmly*, so that his head sank into the rug and his field of vision became *nothing but stocking*.
"Say something," said Mia.
Kevin said something. It came out muffled and nasal and vibrated against her arch.
"Louder."
"...It smells like *nylon*."
"That's *foot*, actually."
"*Mmph*—"
She pressed harder. She *curled* her toes against his nose. Kevin's eyes watered.
Then Sasha. Then Jade, who took *forever* and who rolled her foot back and forth across his entire face like she was testing a carpet sample. Then Kayla, who held it there and said, "Say 'I'm the bitch of the trip.'"
Kevin said it. Through her foot. Into her stocking.
"*Louder.*"
"I'M THE BITCH OF THE TRIP."
Derek was on the floor. Tony was on the floor. Marcus had his phone out.
---
Then they started *stepping* on him.
Fully. Standing. Up. On him.
Jade went first — five foot eleven, one hundred and forty pounds, standing on Kevin's stomach in ribbed thigh-highs, and Kevin made a sound like a *squeaky toy*. Then Sasha stood on his thighs. Then Mia stood on his *chest*, on the swells, *directly* on the swells, and Kevin's whole torso compressed like a beanbag chair.
"Look how much he *squishes*," said Mia, bouncing slightly.
"I have *organs*—"
"You have *cushioning*."
Then Kayla, who was the sister, who had eighteen years of built-up *sibling debt*, stood on his chest *and* his stomach at the same time, straddling, and then *shifted her weight* onto one foot, right onto the left swell, and Kevin's eyes crossed.
"Alright," said Jade. "Now the *good* part."
And Jade lifted her foot, and swung it, and kicked Kevin in the dick.
Not hard. Just *precisely*. Just enough. Right through his shorts, with the ball of her foot, in the exact spot, at the exact force to make a twenty-five-year-old man curl up like a shrimp in front of everyone.
Kevin's voice went up two octaves. It was the first time his voice had ever matched his body and it lasted a full three seconds.
"*AIII*—"
"Oh my *God*," said Tony. "*Oh my GOD.*"
"His *voice*," said Marcus, weeping.
"That was *mean*," said Kevin.
"That was *science*," said Jade.
Then Mia kicked him. Then Sasha. Then Kayla, twice, because sister. Kevin, on the floor, curled in a ball, in a bra, in front of seven people, *whimpered*. Actually *whimpered*. His deep, rumbling, Earl-the-trucker baritone broke in half and came out as a small, high, sad little noise.
Derek was on the ground laughing. Marcus was recording. Tony had both hands over his own crotch, protecting it *by proxy*, out of solidarity and fear.
---
And then it got *worse*, because the guys found the tits.
"Okay," said Marcus, putting his phone down on the coffee table and standing up. "Okay. Hold on. I need to know something."
"*What*—"
"Are they *scoopable*."
"They're *pecs*—"
Marcus knelt down next to Kevin, who was still on the floor, still curled, still whimpering, still in a bra.
And Marcus *scooped*.
Two hands. Underneath. *Lifted*. Cupped Kevin's chest from below and *raised* it, and squeezed it together, and pushed it *up*, and the white t-shirt went taut and the two soft swells rose and pressed together and formed, for one glorious moment, *cleavage*.
Kevin had *cleavage*.
The room *erupted*.
"*OH MY GOD*—"
"IT'S *CLEAVAGE*—"
"HE HAS *CLEAVAGE*—"
"HE'S GOT A *HANDLE*—"
"*LOOK AT IT*—"
Marcus *shook* them. Kevin's whole chest jiggled in his hands. Derek grabbed the phone and filmed it *vertically*, then realized his mistake and filmed it *horizontally*, and then decided to film it both ways to be safe.
"Say something," said Marcus.
"*Mmph*—"
"Say *thank you, Marcus*."
"*Thank you, Marcus*—"
"Say it *louder*."
"THANK YOU, MARCUS."
"Good *girl*," said Marcus, and *nobody* corrected him, and that was the worst part.
They took turns. All three of them. Each guy had to scoop Kevin's chest at least once, on camera, and rate it, out of ten. Derek gave a nine. Tony gave a nine and a half, "because of the bounce." Marcus gave it a ten and said, with total sincerity, "bro, honestly, if you put a dress on him—"
"—he's got a *dress*," said Kayla.
Marcus froze. "*What.*"
---
They got the maid outfit out of the closet.
They got the collar out of the drawer.
They put them *on him*. Right there. In front of his three best friends, in the living room, at four in the afternoon.
And Marcus — Marcus, who Kevin had known since *sixth grade*, who had once watched Kevin get picked last at recess *eleven times in a row* — looked at Kevin in a lace apron, thigh-highs, a black sweetheart-neckline dress, and a leather collar that said **BITCH**, standing four foot seven and ninety-six pounds with his hairless legs and his white bikini tan lines and his perfect 34B push-up, and said:
"Bro. *Bro.* You look *good*."
Kevin did not know whether to cry.
The girls put him back on the floor. Back under the feet. Back into the stockings. Back into the muffled, nasal, baritone whimper that had become his entire personality.
And Marcus *kept recording*. The whole time. The entire afternoon. A forty-minute video of Kevin being stood on, sat on, foot-muffled, dick-kicked, chest-scooped, and bossed around by four girls, all of whom were younger than him, all of whom were taller than him, and one of whom was his *sister*.
The video was called, by unanimous agreement, *"Kevin's Tits: A Documentary."*
It went in the group chat.
It was watched by *everyone*. It was watched by people Kevin didn't know. It was watched by a girl Kevin had had a crush on in high school, who sent him a message that said only: *"the collar. the collar is sending me."*
---
Kevin lay on the floor long after everyone left. Under his own coffee table. In a maid dress. With **BITCH** buckled around his neck and his feet in Mia's forgotten spare tights, because the girls had put them on him on the way out, "so he wouldn't get cold."
Mom came downstairs.
Mom looked at her son on the floor.
"Kevin," she said. "Are you wearing your bra?"
"...Yes, Mom."
"*Good boy.*"
Kevin closed his eyes.
Somewhere, in a group chat he wasn't in, four girls were sending each other a *very* funny video, and three guys were sending each other a *funnier* one, and the whole thing had one star, and the star was four foot seven, and he was twenty-five, and he had a *great* rack.
He fell asleep on the rug.
He bounced when he breathed.
He *always* bounced.
