Kenny Couldn't Do It

Anna's lips continued to push against Kenny's while she attempted to get his shirt off, though Kenny wasn't attempting to help her in this process. The teen's hands remained off her body, and his kisses seemed almost reluctant. It wasn't very long of this before Anna finally pulled back with a look of concern, "W-What's wrong, Kenny? I...is it something I did?" Anna gulped,

"N-No! You didn't do anything, I swear," Kenny blurted out with a set of wide, almost fearful eyes, "I-It's just...it's me,"

"What? I don't, um, I don't get what you mean," Anna replied as her hands nervously moved off of Kenny, "I thought you wanted this?"

"Anna, you're beautiful and such a good friend, but...I can't, I thought I could, everything made sense but I just...I can't," Kenny sighed as he shifted around, so he and Anna had a bit of space on the couch,

"Ken, you can...you can talk to me, you know?" Anna tentatively stated, "If it's something about us, I'd like to know,"

"Anna, if we were in this situation a day or two ago, then I wouldn't have stopped, I couldn't have dreamed of a better experience but not now. I don't...fuck," Kenny sighed while hanging his head and pressing it into his hands,

"E-Early," Anna softly began, "You told me that you were trying to find someone this week and that you were close but it always failed. Is that why you can't? Is it because you think this would turn into nothing too?"

"No, I know you well enough to know that having sex means something to you, and if we did...this would honestly mean something between us. That's why I can't..." Kenny sighed back causing Anna to tilt her head, "I can't do that to you,"

"Kenny, you're losing me," Anna admitted, "I don't...you don't want to date me? I'm not trying to look for a relationship with you right now, so if it's that, I can-"

"Anna don't do that, you and I both know casual sex isn't something you'd just do," Kenny firmly replied causing Anna to lower her head, "You're hurt and frustrated, and I understand that, really I do. I've been that way all week, and if I had sex with you right now it wouldn't be fair to you, me, or...or Zoey,"

"Zoey?" Anna echoed while looking back up at Kenny,

Kenny shut his eyes and brought his hand up, slowly rubbing his eyes, "Yeah...Zoey," Kenny nodded, "I can't have sex with you because...you'll regret it later and...and I don't have any genuine feelings for you. I want Zoey...she's all that's been on my mind, she's all I can picture, and no matter what I do, if I'm not with her, it just doesn't feel right,"

Kenny kept his eyes closed, unable to look Anna in the eye. He was sure that he had hurt the poor blonde with this admission of his true feelings, he didn't mean for it to come out harsh, but it was the truth. Any sex he was going to have with Anna would be void of any real emotion. Hell, that's if he could even bring himself to do it, Zoey stopped him in his tracks this time, and Kenny was sure that as long as he wanted her, she'd be able to do it again.

"Then why aren't you with her now?" Anna gently asked, her voice not holding hurt or anger, just pure curiosity,

"I..." Kenny mumbled back while looking over at the blonde girl who was looking at him with sympathy, "S-She didn't seem to want me around,"

"How do you know?" Anna instantly fired back,

"She moved into a single room, barely talked to me after we got back yesterday and after I stayed here she decided to go skiing," Kenny weakly explained,

"Have you told her how you felt?" Anna asked, "And I mean how you really felt? This need to be with her, that no one else matters?"

"N-No...JJ told me to play it cool and wait on her," Kenny mumbled back,

"Ugh, he's such a guy...Zoey wants...Zoey needs..." Anna began to say before letting out a long exhale, "If it were me, Ken, I'd want to hear that from you. I'd need to hear you say exactly how you felt about me before I could admit it back. I'd be scared to say it without knowing, especially if I felt that and you were...well, not to sound mean but-"

"Fucking everyone else?" Kenny finished for her,

"It does make you seem a little intimidating when it comes to a real relationship," Anna nodded with a small smirk,

Kenny nodded in full agreement, "You're right, I gotta...I need to talk to her; I can't wait, I need to know one way or another were we stand,"

Kenny immediately pulled himself to his feet and headed towards the hallway to get his boots and jacket, determined to talk to Zoey as soon as possible. The brown-haired teen only stopped in his tracks as he heard Anna call out, "Ken?" Kenny turned back and saw the girl with a small soft smile, "Thank you for not...you've done the right thing with me twice, and I appreciate it. And for what it's worth...I hope you and Zoey work out, you both deserve something good..."

"Thanks, Anna," Kenny warmly replied, "You sure you're okay?"

"I'm fine, now you go, don't worry about me," Anna assured the teen with an easy toss of her hand,

Kenny nodded and quickly left the den putting on his snow gear in mere minutes and swiftly moving through the lodge towards the back door. "Okay...okay...uh...Zoey? I...have feelings for you," Kenny mumbled under his breath, "No that sounds stupid," He grunted, "Zoey. I love you!" He said firmly before going a bit wide-eyed, "Waaaaay too strong," Kenny gulped.

Kenny let out a slow exhale, trying to find the right way to phrase things as he opened the back door. However, the teen nearly jumped out of his skin as the moment he opened the door he was face to face with Zoey who was about to walk back inside. "Zoey!" Kenny exclaimed in surprise,

"Kenny..." Zoey whispered out, her voice strangled with nerves, and cheeks burning red.
