Keeping Aurora at home

James had an idea. "I don't know much about the strange colors Aurora made, but blue is safe and red is bad... What if we put red marks on the window sills and front doorknob? Maybe with that and a documentary or something, she'll be calm enough not to relapse or go anywhere...not like we can exactly just hire someone else to watch her.", James said.

Sally shrugged. "I'm sure if we asked Fran to housesit and put a red spot on the inside of the bathroom..."

"I don't think that's very fair, tricking her into watching an alien fugitive..."

Sally gave a sigh. "Yeah..." Then it hit. She didn't need an answer. She looked at him and bit her lower lip. "You know...maybe the simple fact we're planning like this is our answer."

"Meaning?", he asked with a cocked eyebrow.

"Meaning we're both okay enough with the idea to try...dating. The entire reason for which is to get to know someone...we already have that covered. If we just...take it slow? Maybe the part where we have the same parents will matter less..." She felt a little sick saying it out loud. Then the idea of touching him came back to mind, and the feeling faded somewhat. "Or..."

"Or?"

"Or...we dive in head first. I have a small confession...I came in before I knocked."

"Sally!"

"And I kinda...touched you."

"Why?", he asked sharply. He was blushing, though. Sally knew him better than to think he was as upset as he tried to sound.

She caught herself licking her lips. "It...felt right. Kinda hot...and it didn't feel so wrong anymore."

"It still feels..."

Gross. "Oh, totally it feels just...yick...until I'm touching you. I think...maybe we're caring too much about what other people would say."

"You know we could never have a kid, it'd be a little mutant."

She shrugged, letting her mind wander onto creative fantasies of an entirely forbidden relationship. "We could adopt. We wouldn't have to let anyone who knows us know about...us... Fran won't judge, and we just tell the kid we're married."

"And what about if mom found out?"

"Idunno but...see? That's all we keep thinking about. What if someone knew. What would mom say. What have we been told is wrong about it, though, other than 'it's just wrong'?"

James furrowed his eyebrows. "I...don't know but it just..."

Time to be daring...and find out for sure. She stood up and leaned down in front of his face, planting a small kiss that she held just long enough to keep from being innocent on his lips. She stared into his eyes and put a hand on his shoulder. "I don't know about you...that felt more right than worrying about all this stuff, to me."

He started to nod before catching himself. "It...felt like I haven't kissed a woman in five years." Sally shook her head with a light chuckle, and kissed him again. Just a little more intimately this time. A touch more pressure, a light lick of his lips. Her hand found his crotch for a moment. She felt one of his against her breast. No sick feeling anymore. She pulled back, smiling. She caught him following her for a moment. After a pause, he nodded. "I think I get it..."

"It only makes sense...who knows either of us better? We've spent our whole lives learning how to get along and live together...why put it to waste?"

The smiled at each other and stood. As soon as they turned, they found Aurora staring at them. Her spots flickered a sick, desaturated green, as well as blue, yellow, purple, and white. There wasn't a real pattern or even sequence. Just her stunned, confused, wide eyed face and gaping mouth. James pursed his lips, removing his hand from his sister's tit. Whatever that all means, she's obviously very conflicted.
