I decided to keep it. I wanted Liberty Girl and I wouldn't get her if I turned over her weakness to King. I pulled out my encrypted phone and called King, who picked up right away. "King." "Hey handsome. Working late I see." "Ah, Onyx my dear. How did our little heist go tonight?" "Not well I'm afraid. A certain colorfully clad do gooder showed up." "Well I guess it's a good thing I hired the world's greatest thief who famously got the better of superheroes in the past to steal the Jade Diamond then." "Well, Liberty Girl was certainly no ordinary superhero. None of my tricks worked. Even my sleeper kiss." "Sleeper kiss?" "Trade Secret." "That shouldn't have been the case. She should have been helpless to stop you." So he did know. "And why is that sweetheart? is there something you negelected to tell me?" "No. I told you what you needed to hear." "Well you didn't tell me Liberty Girl was immune to sedetives." "Did you get the Jade Diamond or not?" "No as a matter of fact it was destroyed." "WHAT!!! HOW???" "As I was trying to make my escape, a blow from Liberty Girl attempted to steal my belt which has a self destruct function so no one can tamper with my tools. Guess where I hid the Diamond." I could tell he was angry. I hope he bought it. "You certainly don't live up to your reputation Onyx." "I'm only human, I can't defeat every hero." "I expect my payment to be returned in full." "Of course. You'll have it within the hour." "Very well." With that he hung up. Well that certain takes care of things. I may have lost some money and took a hit to my reputation but at least Liberty Girl was safe and I had the means to make her mine.
