In walked Kate Kane, Bruce's cousin. A few years younger than him, she was tall, ivory-pale and slender, her natural red hair in a page-boy cut. Unlike all the other ladies in attendance, the model on her arm included, Kate wore a tuxedo instead of an evening gown.

"Kate!" Bruce smiled, giving his cousin a friendly hug as she drew close to him and Selina. "Great to see you."

"I had to attend," Kate smiled "This is an important cause to me."

"Of course, you're always about the women." Bruce said with a cheeky smile.

"This... is Selina," Bruce continued, showing off the brunette.

"Charmed," Selina purred, pulling Kate in for a couple of kisses.

Bruce wasn't blind to the flicker of chemistry between the two women. Kate had come out a few years ago, and when it came to Selina, well most of his competition for her was on the... curvier side.

After a few minutes of idle conversation, Selina and Kate's date headed to the bar to get some drinks, leaving the cousins alone.

"Well, Bruce, here I was planning to ask you to come out on patrol with me later, but something tells me you'll have your hands full tonight," Kate said, with a smile that bordered on envious. For the last few years, Kate had put her skills, grit and military training to use as the vigilante Batwoman.

"It keeps a villain off the streets," Bruce quipped coolly.

"Yet something tells me you're not about to do the same with Joker," Kate smiled in response.

Just then, the double doors burst open again, and another figure entered.
