Chapter 2

Whom does the Brain choose as the first example?
Karlach
The Emperor entered the cell that Karlach had been placed in and was greeted by a scorching heat that drove him back several steps. The Tiefling barbarian was practically aflame as her infernal engine pumped, her chains rattling and straining to contain Karlach’s muscular form.
A quick signal and vents in the roof of the cell opened, freezing water pouring straight from the sea onto Karlach, cooling her down until the infernal engine stopped its rapid beat. The vents closed and the half drowned Karlach looked up through her plastered down hair with rage burning in her eyes.
The Emperor careful,y stepped forward into the room, the water training away through vents in the floor.
“Karlach. We know pain will not break you…you have suffered pain already for a hundred lifetimes. But after speaking to the Archdevil Zariel…she had agreed to lend several more infernal engines for the purpose of breaking you…with pleasure. Will you continue to resist us?”
Does Karlach resist? Or go along with what is planned for her?

Baldur’s gate
Victory of the Absolute
What happens if the heroes of Baldur’s gate are defeated and left at the mercy of the Absolute and its forces? The Absolute may not fully understand the reasons, but it knows these heroes must be destroyed and there are far more exciting ways to do so than by killing them.
