What should the new Baroness focus on?
Karla's Plans
The diamond churned once more - its magical comments began to flow forth, touching Emily's pysche.
"Ask Karla to plan out your day but mention how bored you are of all this ruler already and that you wish someone else would just make all the decisions for you. Being a ruler sucks, but the perks are nice, let someone else rule behind the scenes while you become the figurehead and enjoy life to the best that your position can afford. Endulge yourself."

High Motivation - Emily feels motivated to rule today, and for the duration of this buff, she will focus on being the best ruler possible. Whatever that mat mean...
For the briefest of second, the masculine bodied Baroness imagined a world where Karla ruled as the Baroness in all but name, and she got to indulge her every whim. Its lure flickered in her mind - and disappeared like the caw of a bird just as quickly. Emily was many things, formerly depressed amongst them, but she wasn't going to fail her father, brother or mother. To her, that was unimaginable
The diamond, disembodied, did the magical equivalent of scrambling to throw another suggestion at its new owner.
"You should ask Karla what she thinks you should do. Whatever task she suggests, you should do without question." combined with “Get the current agenda from Karla, then decide what to do from there.”

Emily didn't forget her motivation, but she did feel a surge of emotion - if she was to be a good ruler, she needed to listen to her advisors, Karla amongst them.
"Karla, what's the agenda for the day? Please choose me some things that need managed." Emily said. Karla took it in stride.
"Well, breakfast first of course my lady. Sir Edmund will be in attendance. You might endeavor to ask him questions about the bandit situation." Emily nodded. Breakfast. That was definitely an important task for the baroness. "Then, meeting with the families of the village about the crops for the season. Legal paperwork awaits you in your fathers office. Some fisherman from a neighboring village wish to come visit you as well. We're you thinking of anything else?" Karla was a meticulous advisor.
Emily shook her head. That sounded like a fine agenda for her day. "Thank you Lady Karla. You handling my agenda is a burden off my shoulders."
Breakfast with the older veteran that was Sir Edmund was like any other day, at least by outside appearances. Emily ate the food prepared for her, Karla dined as well, and Edmund spoke of days long gone. Technically the captain of her Village Watch, he was a close friend, having lost both his wife and son. Today, however, Emily seemed intrigued by matters usually left unspoken. Karla was quite proud of her charge.
"So, our fighting **** - is there much we might do to assist them to ensure the safety of our village? Perhaps some women might get involved in the Village Watch? Any equipment still left in the crumbling castle we might be able to take?" Emily questioned. The questions spilled forth.
Answers did not flow so easily. With the entire villages stock of men away at war, besides the young or old, Emily was stripped of most of her 'fighting ****'. Not great.
"Might I help in some capacity. Take a shift here or there. Maybe I'd even help with the crops." Emily mused to herself. Her go-getter attitude surprised both the attendants of todays meal.
"My lady, respectfully, we might not wish to make the Baroness known as a commoner picking the fields." Karla suggested.
"Yes, yes. I-...." Emily jumped up a bit. There was a pounding at the door. One of the few household servants rushed to answer it; a man in fine clothing befitting a merchant or lower aristocrat came in. A burlap bag hung at his waist, his belt containing several brews and small knapsacks.
"Might any of you know Baroness Thremoult?" The stranger said. Karla stood up.
"She is who you speak of. And who might you be?" Karla questioned. Sir Eduard's hand grasped the dagger he frequently hide in his cloak. Emily's heart fluttered.
The man's eyes went wide. "My god! A pleasure to meet you my lady, Guymar Wyschardus at your service. Your brother, amidst his fighting in the war, saved my brothers life. Well, saved him long enough that he and I may meet one last time - he and I reconciled before he succumbed to his injuries." Emily was suspicious. She'd heard nothing of this.
Guymar seemed to sense the lack of trust in the room. He pointed to the other seat at the small dining room table - Emily let him sit. Over the course of breakfast, which the slightly chubby merchant was eager to finish, he regaled them - he was a former noble, cut out of the family inheritance due to his desire to join the Heastic trading guild. To make a long story short, he and his brother, the inheritor of his noble titles, were estranged; once his brother was injured however, he found a traveling merchant who used the network of the guild to quickly get him one last visit. The man seemed to feel an obligation to assist the Thremoult line.
"Might your mother or father be here?" The man asked.
"I am the last of my line." Emily said somberly. "And the current Baroness."
He nodded. "I apologize then. In any event - I have come to assist you and your tiny village in any capacity necessary. My credentials are in my luggage train. I may not stay forever, but I certainly wish to repay the debt by helping your monetary situation, Baroness."
The meeting moved with Guymar - Karla suggested it, Emily obliged. Emily sat in her fathers study, a plethora of legal paperwork, books, and other things cluttering the solid oak desk. Emily questioned the man's knowledge on the region. Rock solid. He accurately guessed the economic income of her small Barony, its imports, its exports; it was all quite impressive. Karla stepped out of the room for a brief second.
"Oh, panties, an Elven invention, imported straight from their kingdom. Don't they feel GREAT? Those people who say that those are scandalous and indecent are insane! You should popularize those so even commoner women will be able to enjoy them. Perhaps the village tailor may even learn to make those!"

Emily felt her mind drift from matters of coin. Her mind was overtaken by a scandalous idea. Eleven panties, a common cause of mockery amongst humans. She wanted a pair.
"Might you help my Barony import more...unique items. Elven in origin. Clothing potentially?" Emily said. While she was starting to feel a rush between her legs, one not uncommon to the frequently desperately horny virgin, she didn't want to be unchaste and say it.
The merchant shook his head. "Not a big customer base here, I might say. Perhaps when you have a large shop for your tailor?"
Emily felt an idea rush to her head. "I want to buy elven panties - want to wear them. I'm exhausted with the drab attire we wear."
If he was taken aback, Guymar did not say so, instead nodding. "A small request. I can supply you. I'll need your measurements then, Baroness."
Karla returned to the room before Emily might reply. "Baroness, several villagers request your presence. Sir Guymar, might the Baroness continue this meeting later, this evening over dinner perhaps?"
"Certainly. I have to get unpacked. Where might I be staying?" He asked.
They worked out the details, and Emily left the house, dressed as a Baroness might be, thoughts still running wild with the idea of Elven panties. Her first meeting, guided by Karla, was with the farmers of the region. They plead their case - they did not have the hands to pick the crops themselves. With another set of them, perhaps hired hands from a village, they might be able to salvage most of the harvest.
Emily felt this was a critical point in her reign. If she was to be a good Baroness, she needed to made critical decisions. Karla might help her here. Perhaps she might solicit the merchant for his gold to procure some laborers? Or perhaps the promise of being paid back with taxes would bring someone to her village? Perhaps her own idea of helping to pull crops would help....
Emily didn't know the answer, but as the grubby, stocky faces of villagers she considered friends, not subjects, looked at her, she contemplated it.
What does Emily do?
