Just say no

"Well regardless, I can't let you come with."

Evellyn gives a dejected look, unwilling to accept that as the final word.

"I'm sure you're a fine warrior, but elves can be extremely dangerous. Have you ever met them?"

"Well, no, b-"

" They can kill without you ever laying eyes on them. The only reason I myself will be fine is because I can dodge any arrow, but otherwise I'd probably end up as a gruesome pin-cushion. Just stay here, and I'll be back shortly."

Evellyn sits back down with a bit of a huff, and crosses her arms.

"Fine. But you're not gonna make me sit here and wait every time..."

"I'll be back before you know it." You wink.

"Undoubtedly..." She replies, dead-pan. Her eyes suddenly snap up, like she remember something. She fumbles through a pouch. "Wait, before you go, take one of these." She hands you a ring, with a small red gem set in it.

"What's this?"

"A simple enchanted ring. It can't do anything complicated, but if you rapidly tap the gem three times it'll send a signal to the wearer of the other one." She holds up her hand, and puts an identical ring on her finger. "You know, in case one of us gets into trouble."

"Hopefully I won't need it, but... that's pretty neat." You say as you turn, and head for the exit.
