Chapter 84 by brevdravis brevdravis

What does she decide?

Just one more question (Picture Path, Alternate)

"Well dahlin, looks like mah mind's made up. " Charlotte brought her hands to her shoulders and gently ran them down the front of her shirt. "Wheah, oh weah...

She paused dramatically.

"Did I leave mah shoes...?" She stood up, moving to her backpack, which she grabbed with one hand. "Ah'll be ready in a minute."

She walked to the bathroom, with the bag in hand, a broad smile on her face. With a final grin, she slammed the door shut behind her.

"So that means I gotta go get dressed." I groaned, standing myself.

"Don't forget socks." Kaila remarked as I headed towards the hall. "or your phone."

"So... Two Miles..." I heard Helen remark as I closed the door behind me. I rummaged through my bag, hunting down the most comfortable clothes. Clean Socks, a pair of Jeans... Forget a shower, I'll be getting... ah crap, I realized with a start. I was gonna have to fill the fuel filter. Since it had been raining... I glanced out the window at the fog. It could have been my imagination, but it seemed darker. Well, I had better hope it didn't start raining again, because then it would be a lot more work to get the Diesel going again. Good thing Charlotte was coming in that case, I chuckled to myself, I might need somebody to help me push.

My phone buzzed frantically on the bed. And I Momentarily stopped to look at it. A message from Kaila popped up, and I grabbed it, texting her back and forth for a minute.

I took a breath, then shoved my phone into the breast pocket of a Hawaiian shirt that I was wearing open. Layering was the plan today, because I wasn't sure about the weather. The forecast app gave a lovely little 50% chance of rain, which told me exactly nothing.

I walked to the main Room to find Charlotte standing by the door, dressed in her emerald green shirt and jeans, with that same floppy hat that I had seen her in the first time. Her hair was loose now, and she smiled at me brightly.

"So you do have ah gas cahn, raight?" She asked with a smirk.

"In the Van, yeah." I nodded. "So guess we're heading there first."

My phone buzzed again, and I glanced over at Helen and Kaila, who sat innocently in the chairs, pointedly not looking at the phone that Kaila had until a minute before been tapping at.

Check the Message now, or wait a bit?
