What’s better, the embarassing truth or a comforting lie?

Just kidding!

Looking at her sister’s face, Sara couldn’t go through with it. The knowledge would hardly help her, and putting her sister through the same embarrassment, the same inescapably nude hell, was just cruel.

“Just kidding,” Sara said, faking a grin.

Laurel faltered, hands lowering slightly. Sara still tried to fix her gaze higher.

“You should’ve seen your face,” Sara said. Her words sounded hollow even to herself. “Like I could cause all this, right?”

“R-right,” Laurel said. She shook off whatever thoughts she’d been having, returning to shameless smiling. “Should’ve guessed. No way you’d be unused to this, you never minded showing off before.”

She what? No, Sara shook her head as her ears burned, no she really didn’t want to know.

“Just saying, it could be worse,” Sara said.

She made her excuses before hurriedly leaving. In the hallway she covered herself with her hands, though it felt woefully inadequate.

Great, there was nowhere she could get even this modesty without people thinking she was mad, unless she was alone. It felt almost pointless. Not even around her sister.

And if everyone else would react the same way, she wasn’t sure she wanted to explain the truth. Not when there was no solution at least.

Flushed, Sara returned to her room and wish she could lock it.

Well, at least she had her phone. And the album. And access to youtube for a myriad music videos and show clips that would never have been on the site before. She almost didn’t know where to start.

But honestly, she needed some distraction. She picked a singer she’d always found kinda attractive and set the associated music video playing, using the volume to hide her gasps and enjoying the way the woman danced around.

Some positives. Not enough but, Sara reflected as she moaned, there were still some.
