Just in time.

“Damnation, they just keep coming,” Lex cursed as he impaled another goblin.

“You could walk back to the damn cavern without treading on stone,” Mira said and lobbed off the head of an unforunate attacker. They were both completely drenched in sweat, grime and blood—some of their own but most of the green bastards.

With exhaustion, Lex’s movement were slowing and he couldn’t dodge the club coming for his head. Suddenly, a gust of wind flew past his face, cutting his ear. He looked dumbfounded as an arrow stuck out of the eye socket of the goblin who had wanted to crush his skull.

“Don’t gawk, come on go!” Khala shouted at them, loosing another arrow past them.

Mira didn’t have to be told twice and Lex was shaken from his daze too. The three fought gallantly the rest of the way up to the surface, leaving another trail of **** behind them.

Ariane beamed with joy as they all came to the tunnel exit together, even if they looked like hell, “Praise be, you made it. Come, quick!”

There was not time for reunions, the goblins were still coming. Lex rushed past them and made for the fire place. He grinned when he still saw lingering embers in the ash. Taking one of the smouldering branches, he went back to the tunnel and lit the fuse of the stick of Alchemist’s fire. “Run, get out of there!” He called to Mira who was still holding off the goblins.

Mira killed one last goblin and ran past Lex, who tossed the explosive in the tunnel. They both ran for their lives and rejoined their friends and the freed women outside the cave.

A great quake shook the ground and cloud of dust and debris flew from the cave, the tunnel collapsing inside on top of the goblins chasing them.
