Just go home

With an equally anguished and exhausted sigh, Jessica let go of the axe and let it drop to the ground. With big gulps of air and tears and blood stinging her eyes, she turned from the corpse and toward her home.
The door was broken inward, but her aunt was relatively sound, if panicked hiding in her room. Apparently the beast had broken in just as she was administering her medicine.
Jessica and her blocked the broken door with a table and chest and hid the remainder of the night in her aunt's bedroom.
In the morning, things could be repaired.
