A Journey through Fire and Water

Just Keep Swimming

Friday October 6 19:35:41

City Municipal Sewers

Sky water had been falling for 4 hours since It had surfaced in the tunnels from the Big Water. It had been in the shape of a…Dog(?) when it had gotten out of the lab through the big water hole in the White Place. But Dog did not go through water well so it had made gills and fins like it saw in the before times.

Swimming south through the dirty water it wondered, why had things changed? It had been safe and fed and sometimes even got to play with the Big Bald Man and the Brown haired lady, but the brown haired lady had left.

When the clouds came out of the box sky, and the Big Bald Man started coughing, it knew something was wrong because all the other people started yelling and banging on the wall you see through, but they couldn't get out. After that they all started coughing and the Big Bald Man looked at it and opened the cage and told it to “Go into the O-Tilly-Tee Seenk and get away.” He pointed at the big water hole next to the cage, then started coughing harder and fell over in the stinky air. Then the other three people fell over and then it was alone.

After a while of swimming it found light and crawled out of the hole, it needed fur and four feet again so it shifted back into Dog and padded along the hard ground until it came to a shadowy overhang. Felt good to be out of sky water and the dirty water both, but this was colder than the White Place It jumped up on a wall and looked around when it spied an even Bigger Dog.

The Bigger Dog was inside a box with a hole in it and as soon as it saw C-22 it began barking loudly, why did other dogs always bark at it? Then the Bigger Dog charged at it and tried to bite it , but a long metal chain stopped him from reaching C-22. It had to get away, but what to do?

Suddenly, a door opened and another Big Bald Man(this one was less big and younger?) started yelling at the Bigger Dog. “Hey Broo-Tus, u need to chill owt, my dood. Itz just a stray puppee.” Then the Bigger Dog stops and goes back into its box, but keeps staring at it.

The Big Bald Man walks over to me and bends down, speaking softly “Hey there, where did u kome frum? Im not gunna hert ya. Letz git u ensid.”

A Safe Harbor
