What Happens From Here?
Juliet's Got A Date (TF)
Mindy made her way out of her house, crossing over her lawn and onto the Clark's property. She had a movie, game, as well as a set of drinks and snacks under her arm. The tomboy hopped up the few front steps and opened the door with a small curl of her lips. Since Kenny had started dating Claire she'd seen a bit less of him; of course Kenny was trying to be around as often as he could, Mindy felt the void, and she was hoping to have a little friend time.
Stepping inside, Mindy only made it a few steps before Sydney peeked her head out from the main hall. The old girls eyes lit up, "Oh my God, Mindy!" She cheerfully exclaimed, "I was so worried I wasn't going to see you before I had to go back to school!"
"Oh Sydney! Hi!" Mindy warmly returned; Mindy had always been closer with Sydney over Juliet, despite their differences, Sydney had a bit more of an open mind and could talk with her better than Juliet. "I would have been over sooner if Ken had told me you were here." Mindy tossed her eyes, "I'll have to knock him one for that."
Sydney glanced over her shoulder and then back to Mindy, "You, uh...you know he's not here, right?"
"What?!" Mindy exclaimed.
Two days had passed since Kenny had gone over to Claire's house and had made yet another mistake with her twin sister. Only this time, Kenny couldn't hide behind the fact that he didn't know who he was with. Kennedy wasn't oddly sleeping in Claire's bed, he wasn't drinking, and there was no lack of communication. Kennedy outright walked up to him and Kenny let her; he cheated on his girlfriend and for two days he'd barely left his bedroom. Claire was perfectly understanding when he claimed to be sick, and only checked in on him with concern every so often through text. That was the only real communication Kenny allowed himself; no one else was going to be able to help him. At least, that's what he thought before an idea lit in his head like a light bulb and the teenager all but ran out of his house, speeding off down the road.
"But he told me he was totally sick. I was coming to try and check on him and cheer him up." Mindy groaned as she walked over dropping her few items on the table.
"Aw, sorry, kid." Sydney pouted for the girl, "He really was sick, I mean, we couldn't get him out of bed for two days for like anything. Then all of a sudden he was out the door, in his car, and down the road without a word."
"Sounds like Kenny, I'm just usually in the loop when he suddenly decides he's on a mission." Mindy lightly joked before finally looking Sydney over, seeing that her hair was tied up, with multiple clips in her hair along with a set of makeup in her hands, "What are you doing?" Her curiosity got the better of her.
"Helping Julie." Sydney waved the girl over and the duo made their way up the hallway and into the bathroom where Juliet sat on a stool, quickly sending out a text. "See, I told you it wasn't him. Only Mindy."
"Well hurry up, I just texted him and he's almost here!" Juliet was all but bouncing in her seat, "Please, hurry up and finish!" Sydney let out a small snicker and moved back to her younger cousin, continuing to apply her makeup, "Hey Mindy." Juliet finally added.
"Hey." Mindy arched her brow; her mind immediately recalling their conversation in the car post graduation night. She'd never seen Juliet so wound up over a guy, but Brian left his mark on her for sure. "Got a date?"
"Uh-huh," Juliet gleamed back,
"You're such a cliche," Sydney teased, "The dreamy blue eyes catches another one."
"Shush." Juliet shut her eyes and Sydney carefully apply mascara for her, "Don't be jealous of me, Syd. You'd have a date too if you'd go out and find one."
"When I want one, I'll find one." Sydney took a small step back, "Aw look at you, all set to go on your date." She gushed and Juliet quickly jumped up, fixing her hair in the mirror.
"You do realize this isn't my first date, Syd. I've had others."
"But not one that's gotten you this excited." Juliet playfully rolled her eyes and then the three heard the door bell, "He's here!" Mindy and Sydney followed behind Juliet as she rushed to the door, taking one last second to brush out any wrinkles in her outfit before opening the front door.
"Hey, hope you didn't mind me being a few minutes late." Mindy's small smile immediately faded away as she looked at the slicked back brown hair and short brown beard. It wasn't Brian; it was Michael Frost.
"It's no problem at all; I needed them anyway. Come on, let's get to the movie." Michael stepped aside, letting the brunette step out ahead of him before looking to Sydney and Mindy, giving them a charming smile as he shut the door.
As the door shut, Sydney sighed, "I hope she has fun. The poor thing needs it."
"Hopefully not too much fun with him." Mindy muttered under her breath and Sydney quickly took a side step, looking Mindy with stern eyes, "Forget I said that, Sydney."
"Uh, no. I can't just forget you said that about the guy my cousin is currently on a date with." Sydney crossed her arms, "What's wrong with him? Juliet told me he didn't raise any flags when she gave him her number and Juliet's good at judging character."
"Is she?" Mindy simply asked back,
"Well...usually." The college girl lamented.
"Look, I don't know anything about Michael Frost other than him being a hockey player with JJ and an old friend of Brian. But..." Mindy lightly shook her head, "Once Brian started becoming a better person he cut Mike off, saying he wasn't a good guy and JJ...he's mentioned some questionable stuff that Mike has done during games. Both of them don't like him and while Brian could be bias, I'm inclined to believe JJ. He's never wrong with people. Ever."
Sydney pursed her lips and glanced back to the door. "Dammit Julie..." She pinched her brow, "Well...it's not like I'm her mother, I can't go drag her back here saying I no longer approve. She's an adult now."
"True, and Juliet's not stupid. I'd imagine she wouldn't let him "convince" her into anything immediately." Sydney cringed at the thought, "Sorry. I didn't mean to bring the drama. I really just wanted to check on, Ken." Mindy moved to grab her stuff, "It was good seeing you though Syd."
"Hang on." Sydney's words halted the girl, "First time I've seen you in forever and now you've put some fun thoughts in my head that I could use a distraction for." The older girl looked over Mindy's pile of stuff and grabbed a drink as well as the movie, "Come on. You're hanging out."
Mindy let out a small snicker, "Guess I'm hanging out with one Clark tonight." The tomboy grabbed a drink and snack, following Sydney to the living room.
