Julia accepts her fate and gets a first room-mate

Julia sighed.

Right after leaving the hospital - still only in a t-shirt, borrowed panties, and sandals - she saw that monstrosity that sent her into the hospital in the first place. The backpack - not the girl. Girl was cute, and currently literally on her knees begging for forgiveness and apologizing from the bottom of her heart.

"It's all right, get up. You're causing a scene. There was a minor concussion, but nothing serious and they said I'll be absolutely fine. Just shouldn't drive for a day or two, which is not a problem since I don't own a car." Julia tried her best to lift the poor girl off her knees.

"Do you perhaps want your panties back?" Julia asked to try to inject some humour into the situation.
"Nnnn, No. No need. Please" Karolina responded meekly.
"Fine then. As I've said you're forgiven. You didn't have to wait. I'll be going now. Goodbye"

Having said that, she only had her apartment keys that paramedics grabbed for her, and there was quite a bit of travel to reach home. Especially the way she was dressed right now.

Still, it was a city, she could have probably just walked back home. She was about to set sail, but unfortunately turned around and saw Karolina, with a look of the scolded puppy on the her face.

"Ah. Fuck it. Call us the cab" she told the girl who seemed to light up "You're paying!" she added, and damped her enthusiasm a bit. Oh. Damn it. "You can move in" she finally said accepting her fate, only for a girl to almost knock her over again.

She sat Karolina down on a bench and while waiting for a cab she outlined the rules:

"You will pay me five hundred per month for the room, it's not big, basically a bed and a wardrobe, but it's yours. You can use a desk in the kitchen to study. No guests. No noise past midnight. Call me Julia" she said

"Thank you! I swear you won't even notice me! I'll be quiet as a mouse!"

"Fine, fine. I'll need some references to make sure you are not a murderer for hire sent by my enemies to eliminate me and make it look like an accident" she said keeping up with the dark humour.

"Sure! I'll call my parents!" that Karolina apparently completely missed. It was so cute that she thought of her parent's first though.

"Tell your parents you've been scammed and to send you some money. Rent is due on 15th"

Julia could see the girl freeze up. Literally. She stopped her finger right before dialling the number, and tears showed up in her eyes.

"No, please. Don't make me do this, they'll come and take me away, they kept saying it's to dangerous for me to live in the city. Please don't make me go back! Please, I'll clean the house! I'll do anything!"

"So you don't have money for the first month?" Julia inquired.
The eyes of Karolina got clouded.
"Two months?"
Julia could see her start to shake.
"A quarter?" Julia asked with hope
"They said it's such a great deal, and only limited time, and only if I prepaid half a year in advance" a second part of the sentence was spoken through tears, and with that she started crying again ...
