Journey back home

Kate sat in the passenger seat scrolling through her phone as her husband, Jake, drove. They had visited a close friend's birthday party and were heading back home.

They were both software engineers, they had met at work and had fallen in love immediately. Jake proposed to Kate the very next year and they tied the knot shortly after.

Six years later, Kate felt like she missed the spark that she had with the old Jake. Ever since he moved to his new job, he seemed to have no time on his hands. He worked long hours and barely made any effort to see her or spend time with her. The long work hours also left him tired so much so that they barely had any sex.

"I'm so full. I can't wait to go home and crash." Jake said. Kate was transfixed on her phone and didn't really pay attention to what he was saying. She mumbled something under her breath.
