Joshua, knowing Matt is a brother alreadys, knows that if he can beat him in some competition, it will look better than just beating a Kappa, or another pledge. He's also aware of certain sexual stereotypes about asian men, so he figures his odds are pretty good, and hes never really been all that attracted to black women, so he'd be able to outlast the VMD if he had to take one.
