Josh and Alyssa (The Bedroom at the End of the Hall)

Alyssa picked up her suitcase and headed towards her assigned room. “You want to come check out the sleeping quarters?” she yelled out to Josh as she reached the old wooden door.

Josh responded with somewhat of a grunt. Alyssa guessed it was somewhere between a “No” and a “I’m going to check out the fridge”. She shrugged to no one in particular and then headed in.

The room was a fairly modest one and probably one of the smaller bedrooms, but it had a cozy vibe. Unpainted unlike the rest of the interior, it was the place that most looked like an authentic cabin. She noticed a full body mirror that suited her interest in outfits just fine.

After giving a little twirl and giggling to herself, she decided to check out the rest of the room. There was a chair in the corner of the room and a small table that held what looked like a half finished knitting project, needles conspicuously missing. The room had a window next to the bed and perhaps the nicest looking headboard, definitely the result of craftsmanship and not an assembly line.

The room also had a skylight, being the old place it was. This gave Alyssa a small chuckle. It was the only place one could’ve been located in the downstairs, as the room oddly was not under the second floor. Given that the place was so remote and comfortable, it seemed more designed as a passion project than an architectural masterpiece.

Josh came in and gave the room a decidedly quicker look over before wrapping his arms around Alyssa and twirling her for a kiss.

“Alright the newest microwaveable item in the freezer expired two years ago.” Josh rolled his eyes as he spoke. “When Alex gets back with the firewood we should see if he can organize a group of us to go into town for supplies, unless we plan to subsist on trail mix and roasting marshmallows. Sun’s just starting to set, we should have a couple hours.”

Alyssa quietly agreed and got into the bed. Josh chuckled and followed her lead into a cuddle. It was getting quite cold, and that firewood was really going to come in handy.
