Jessica is Checking Her Out

Mandy and Jessica got along quickly. Jessica had something magnetic about her that made her easy to talk to. She'd speak and speak and Mandy would listen in rapt attention. Jessica had been a member of student council at her high school. Captain of the volleyball team. She wasn't even considering a sorority because she had to focus on her studies.

"So I guess no time for a boyfriend either?" Mandy giggled.

"Definitely not." Jessica said. But, there was something strange about her voice when she said it. Something was going through her head.

Mandy didn't have time to think about it. In fact the two barely interacted at all the rest of the day. They both had to rush off to Freshman orientation and all of the dumb activities that the school had planned. Jessica had met with a group of other girls, all of whom dressed like they shopped at the Italian stores Mandy had only ever heard of.

Later that night, Mandy returned to her room, eyes half droopy from exhaustion. The day had all been so tiring, it was all Mandy could do was slum into bed.

But, as she was falling asleep, she noticed something. Jessica was on the other side of the room, dressed in a pretty nightie and typing diligently on her computer. Only, every so often, Jessica was looking her way. Especially when she didn't seem to think Mandy was watching.

The last thing Mandy thought about before bed was about the way Jessica was looking at her. It was more like the way boys looked at her, though not quite. Almost like...an appraisal? Odd.
