Jennifer’s Return
The snow had been falling for three days.
Soft, heavy flakes drifted past the small windows of the medical hut, muting every sound. Inside, the fire burned higher than usual against the cold. The air smelled of woodsmoke, herbal antiseptic, and wet wool.
Jennifer, Daisy, and Dafne stood completely nude in the centre of the room while Rachel and two other doctors examined them.
Jennifer’s body was strong and unmistakably physical — the body of a woman who had spent years farming, fighting, and surviving. Broad shoulders, a solid waist, and full, natural breasts that sat with a soft weight against her ribcage. Her nipples were a muted pink and already tight from the chill that still clung to her skin. Powerful thighs and a rounded, firm ass spoke of constant hard work. Between her legs, a soft thatch of light brown hair framed her. Faint scars and fading bruises marked her pale skin, but nothing could hide the solid, womanly strength of her frame.
Daisy stood beside her, slightly leaner but no less striking. Her body was athletic and tightly controlled — toned stomach, defined arms, and high, firm breasts that moved only a little when she shifted. Her nipples were darker, already stiffened. Long, strong legs and a tight, compact ass showed the results of constant hiking and combat. Between her thighs she was mostly neat, the outer lips soft and closed against the cold. A long red scratch ran down the outside of one thigh, still angry against her fair skin.
Dafne was the youngest and leanest of the three. Her frame was wiry and compact, all tight muscle and sharp lines. Small, perky breasts with dark, tight nipples sat high on her chest. Her stomach was flat and hard, her hips narrow, her legs long and powerful for her size. Between her thighs she was nearly bare, the slit neat and closed. A thin cut marked her hip. Even naked and tired, she looked like someone built for speed and sudden violence.
Rachel moved around them with quiet efficiency, pressing cold fingers into soft and hard flesh alike, checking lymph nodes beneath full breasts, listening to lungs, examining eyes, and carefully parting thighs to swab for any sign of early infection. The contrast between the clinical touches and the exposed bodies made the room feel smaller.
Emma stood near the wall, watching.
Jennifer met her eyes first, voice low and rough from the cold.
“We made it farther than last time. The snow slowed us. Visibility was almost nothing most days.”
Daisy shifted as Rachel’s hands moved over her firm breasts, checking carefully. “The ruins are quieter under the snow. But the Ravagers aren’t. Some of them barely seem to feel the cold.”
Dafne stayed mostly silent while one of the doctors examined the cut on her hip and then moved lower, fingers careful but thorough between her legs.
Emma stepped closer. “What about the virus? The Ravagers.”
Jennifer exhaled, the movement making her full breasts rise and fall. “They’re changing. Some still run in packs — wild, fast, no thought. But others wait. They watch. We saw a group that didn’t charge. They circled us in the trees like they were testing how close they could get.”
Rachel looked up from between Daisy’s thighs. “Behavioural change?”
“Possible,” Jennifer answered. “We couldn’t risk getting closer. One of them made a sound that wasn’t just a moan. It was almost a word. Then the snow got heavier and we lost them.”
Emma’s brow furrowed. “They spoke?”
“Barely. Once. That was enough.” Jennifer’s voice stayed flat. “The infection feels thicker out there in the cold. Like the air itself carries more of it when the temperature drops.”
Daisy added quietly, still standing with her legs slightly parted, “We found old research papers in a half-collapsed lab. Most of it was ruined by water and ice. But the charts that survived showed the virus adapting faster in low temperatures than anyone expected. Something about the body seeking heat through contact.”
Rachel nodded, making notes while the other doctor finished examining Dafne’s lean, young body.
Dafne finally spoke, voice rough. “We didn’t see any other people. No signs of a living settlement. Just the infected. And the silence under the snow.”
Emma listened carefully, filing every incomplete detail. The picture remained fragmented — no clear structure, no proof of another organised human group. Only the sense that the virus and its carriers were still changing.
Rachel finished the last checks and handed each woman a thick blanket. The three of them wrapped the heavy fabric around their still-cold, naked bodies. Snow continued to fall past the windows in thick, silent flakes.
“You’re clear,” Rachel said. “No active infection. Rest. Proper food. No more missions for at least two weeks.”
Jennifer pulled the blanket tighter around herself, the fabric brushing over her sensitive nipples, and looked at Emma again.
“We brought back what we could. Radios that still work. Coordinates. Some damaged files.” She paused. “It’s not much. But it’s more than we had.”
Emma nodded once. Outside, the snow kept falling, soft and relentless, covering the island in white.
