Heaven's touch arrives so slowly, but you hear it in her breath, you feel it in her stiffening limbs and her quivering against your face and hands, and then the angels sing for Jennie Bee.

She cries out and curls up off her bed with an almighty shout.

Heaven answers with a thunderclap and a long rolling rumble, then a hammering of rain on the roof. Jolene squeals outside, surprised by the thundershower.

Jennie Bee shakes and shivers as if she had been struck by lightning. She's sobbing now, shaking. You take her in your arms, embracing her and holding her close.

Jolene calls up the stairs. "Jennie! Jennie Bee!"

Her footsteps pound up the stairs toward Jennie's attic bedroom.
