Jeffery? Who's That?

Quickly redressing himself to make himself presentable (after all, who knew when his son Joe would arrive?), Alex thought about Jeffery. There wasn't much left of the original Jeffery that Alex could see. In fact, his former supervisor's name was the only thing left. That made him think of something else. Wasn't it strange for a woman to have the name "Jeffery"? He shook his head and chuckled. With all of these reality changes, that was what he was perplexed by?

Fully dressed, he headed into the kitchen and saw Jeffery slaving over making dinner. "Uh, Jeffery?" he asked. When his "new" wife didn't turn around, he cleared his throat and asked again. "Jeffery?"

Jeffery turned and looked at him. "Are you talking to me, honey?" she asked. "Who's Jeffery?"

Alex blinked. Reality changed again? Wait, wasn't he just thinking about Jeffery's name a moment ago? Did that do something to change things?

"That isn't your name?" Alex asked, feeling a little stupid.

"Of course not. Why would I have a man's name? My name has always been Jennifer, obviously." She shook her head, and got back to her cooking. Sometimes she just didn't understand Alex's sense of humor.

Suddenly, the doorbell rang.

"Oh, could you go answer that, honey? Normally I would, but I have to look over the food. It might be Joe," Jennifer said.

Alex did as his wife said, but felt a little ****. Everyone else in his life changed; what if the same thing happened to his son? Or maybe something had already happened? Only one way to find out.
