Jeff Destroys Lucy's Credit Cards

Lucy offered him another credit card, "Here, this one's new."

Of course that wouldn't matter. The second card was also declined. With shaking hands, she pulled out the emergency credit card that her parents had given her. She could pay them back when they came for their visit over the weekend.

"That card isn't working either," Jeff announced.

"I don't understand," Lucy was just about ready to cry.

Under normal circumstances, Jeff might have been more inclined to help, but right now, the credit cards had to go.

"School policy is to destroy the credit card when there is a bank error like this." He pulled out a pair of scissors from next to his register, "This seems to be affecting all of your credit cards. You should hand them over."

"Wait. Maybe I can resolve the situation with the bank? Just give me those cards back so that I can provide the account numbers over the phone," Lucy begged.

Just like with Professor Morris, Jeff issued a quick and firm order to spur Lucy to action. "Lucy, give!" The sudden change in tone prompted Lucy to hand her entire wallet to Jeff. He quickly retrieved all the credit cards from inside of it. After thinking about it, he also took the rewards cards Lucy had, as well as her drivers license. "Good girl." One by one, Lucy watched as Jeff cut the plastic to pieces in front of her.

"Sorry, Lucy."

No he wasn't.

"School policy."

More like Lucy policy.

"Wait, that's my license!" Lucy's warning was ignored as the scissors closed on her ID, the last card that Jeff had destroyed.

Jeff handed her the pieces of the drivers license. "I must have grabbed it without looking." Looking behind Lucy, he saw a line had formed.

"So, how are you going to pay for that?" He indicated her lunch, the bowl on the counter and the ice cream, "There's a line behind you, you know?"
