Chapter 6
How screwed are you?
Jean erases Elias' mind
“You’re wrong, Elias,” Jean hissed, her voice cutting through the crackling energy between them. Her hands trembled, but her resolve didn’t waver. The air around them seemed to vibrate, charged with the clash of their powers. “I’m not yours. I never will be.”
Elias’s smirk faltered for just a moment, his dark eyes narrowing as he took a step closer. “Jean,” he said, his voice smooth, almost soothing, despite the tension. “You can’t fight this forever. You want this. You need this.”
“No,” she snapped, her voice sharp as a blade. “I don’t need you. I don’t want you. You’ve taken enough from me. This ends now.”
Her mind flashed back to how it had all begun. Just hours ago, she’d been sitting in the dimly lit bar, nursing a drink she didn’t really want, trying to drown out the noise of her own thoughts. That’s when he’d appeared—Elias. Tall, dark, and impossibly magnetic. He’d slid into the seat beside her, his presence immediate and overwhelming. She’d felt it then, the pull of him, like a gravitational **** she couldn’t escape.
“You’ve been running for a long time, Jean,” he’d said, his voice low and intimate, as if they were the only two people in the world. “But you can’t run from me.”
She’d tried to leave, to walk away, but his hand had caught hers, his grip firm but not painful. And then, his power had surged through her, dark and seductive, wrapping around her like a vice. Her body had responded before her mind could catch up, her skin tingling where he touched her, her breath coming in short, shallow gasps.
It had been a battle from the start—a battle she wasn’t sure she could win. But now, standing here in the middle of this charged silence, Jean knew she had no other choice. She had to end this. She had to end him.
Elias’s smirk returned, wider this time, almost mocking. “You think you can beat me, Jean? You think you’re strong enough? You’re just a little girl playing at being a woman.”
Her jaw tightened, her hands clenching into fists at her sides. “I’m not playing, Elias. And I’m not a little girl.”
His laugh was low, almost a purr, and it sent a shiver down her spine—not of fear, but of fury. “Prove it,” he taunted, taking another step closer, his presence suffocating. “Show me what you’re made of.”
Jean’s mind raced, her thoughts a whirlwind of conflicting emotions. She wanted to resist, to push him away, but his touch was intoxicating, his presence impossible to ignore. Her body betrayed her, responding to him in ways she couldn’t control, but her mind… her mind was still her own. She focused, summoning her telepathic abilities, and pushed back against him with all her strength. The air between them crackled with energy, their powers colliding in a battle of wills.
“You’re wrong, Elias,” she said again, her voice steady now, filled with a strength she didn’t know she had. “I’m not yours. I never will be.”
Elias’s eyes narrowed, his power intensifying as he fought to maintain control. But Jean refused to back down. She could feel his grip on her weakening, his hold on her mind slipping away. She held her ground, her resolve unshakable, and pushed back with all her strength.
“You can’t win, Elias,” she said, her voice low and deadly. “I’m not going to let you control me.”
His smirk faltered again, and this time, it didn’t return. “Jean,” he said, his voice low and hypnotic. “You can’t resist me forever. You know you want this.”
“I don’t,” she said, her voice steady now, filled with a strength she didn’t know she had. “I won’t let you control me.”
Elias’s eyes narrowed, his power intensifying as he fought to maintain control. But Jean refused to back down. She could feel his grip on her weakening, his hold on her mind slipping away. She held her ground, her resolve unshakable, and pushed back with all her strength.
With a sudden burst of energy, Jean focused all her power on breaking his hold. The air around them seemed to shimmer, the tension snapping like a rubber band stretched too far. Elias’s eyes widened in shock as he stumbled back, his power faltering.
“What… what are you doing?” he demanded, his voice tinged with something she’d never heard before—fear.
“Ending this,” Jean said, her voice cold and unyielding. “Once and for all.”
She reached out with her mind, her telepathic abilities surging forward like a tidal wave. Elias’s eyes widened in panic as he realized what she was doing, but it was too late. Her power slammed into him, tearing through his defenses like they were nothing.
“Jean, stop!” he shouted, his voice ****. “You don’t know what you’re doing!”
“I know exactly what I’m doing,” she replied, her voice steady.
Her power wrapped around his mind, tighter and tighter, until it was crushing him. She could feel him struggling, fighting to break free, but it was no use. She was too strong now—too determined.
“Jean, please!” he begged, his voice breaking. “Don’t do this!”
But she didn’t stop. She couldn’t. She pushed harder, her power surging forward, until she felt something snap inside him. His eyes went blank, his body slumping to the ground like a marionette with its strings cut.
For a moment, there was silence. Then, Jean took a shaky breath, her hands trembling as she looked down at Elias’s lifeless form.
“It’s over,” she whispered, her voice barely audible. “It’s finally over.”
