Jean's Alone in the City

Jean had been tracking a mutant through the city. Normally this would be work for the team, but she picked up the mental distress of a young mutant while she was out shopping, and immediately picked up the trail. She'd been following the mental trail for a half hour and it led her right here, rounding the corner into an alley in Manhattan.

Jean rounded the corner into the alley. She froze in confusion as she saw two figures- Spider-Woman and Captain Marvel! Two of the premiere Avengers members.

"What are you two doing here?" Jean asked, baffled.

"Surprised?" Spider-Woman said in a strange tone. "Well don't be- there's no mutant in need- except you!"

Jean's eyes widened. These two were here for her? She watched as they took combat stances. What on earth was happening? Sure, the X-Men and the Avengers were never the best of friends- but it had never come to the point of some petty ambush!

She had little time to think on the subject as the two Avenger's lunged at her...
