Jaune and Cardin get additional homework, and a confrontation happens.

Velvet did ultimately raise her hand when she saw someone else do so, wonwhich Oobleck expressed regret for. Then Oobleck, in his hyperactive manner then went on to explain some Faunus history, and asked how some general suffered a devastating loss, what advantage the Faunus had had over him.

Jaune then felt a piece of paper hit the back of his head, and said, "Hey," looking back at a sniggering Cardin. Unfortunately, Oobleck took this as Jaune volunteering, and pressed him for an answer. Which Jaune didn't have, despite Pyrrha's best efforts to signal it to him.

Oobleck then asked Cardin, who basically called the Faunus animals, easier to train than soldiers. Jaune was ready to kick his ass before Pyrrha explained it had been night vision, and the general had made the dumbass mistake of trying to ambush them in their sleep.

Blake then mocked Cardin by saying, "Perhaps if he paid attention in class, he wouldn't be remembered as such a failure." Jaune sniggered at that, despite not having paid much attention either.

Oobleck then unfortunately told Cardin and Jaune to stay after class, and told them, "You two have been struggling in my class since Day 1. I don't know if it is a lack of interest, or your own stubborn natures. Whichever it is, it stops now." He went on to lecture them both about the importance of history, as well as expecting them to reflect the work they put in to get into Beacon, something that Jaune flinched a little at, and gave them both an essay to write.

He let them both out, and Jaune walked out first... Then, thanks to the skills he got from the Note, dodged and attempt to push him over from Cardin. "Really?" he deadpanned. "You're still trying this shit after I kicked your ass?"

"You got lucky Arc. That wasn't a fair fight, I was low on Aura," Cardin growled.

"Oh of course, you have an excuse," Pyrrha said, walking up as she had waited outside the class for Jaune. "Perhaps you should prove it at the next combat class," she challenged.

"...I like that idea," Jaune replied. "At that point, we'll both be at our best, and you won't have any excuse to bandage your fragile, overinflated ego when I burst it," Jaune told Cardin.

"...you're going to regret challenging me Arc," Cardin growled. "But I accept. I'm going to enjoy smearing you all over the floor." He then stormed off.

"...you know, we could break his legs," Pyrrha remarked.

"Tempting," Jaune sighed, Oobleck's words echoing in his mind. Did he truly deserve all the good things happening to him lately?
