Jason and Lily, a married couple dealing with a big life change

Jason could hear the sound of his wife crying as he approached the bedroom, it had been one month since they had moved and it was taking it's toll on Lily. Jason had recently been relocated in his job at work, he was good at his job and as a result upper management figured his skills would be better served at one of the worse performing branches, which happened to be on the other end of the country, after much deliberation Lily agreed she would move with Jason for his work, Jason had managed to settle in fine but Lily had really been struggling.

"Hey baby" Jason said walking into the room tentatively, Lily quickly wiped away her tears and tried to put on a facade that everything was alright but even if Jason hadn't heard, Lily's eyes were red and it was evident that she was upset. Jason sat with her on the bed and hugged her "what's wrong baby", he asks knowing the answer, "Nothing I'm just having trouble with the move, I just don't know anyone here and it's hard to make friends, I know you have made friends through work but it's harder for me" She says. It was true, while Jason was a more outgoing person, him working in an office gave him a great avenue to make friends with his coworkers and he had, he fairly regularly went out with them after work, but Lily worked remote with her old job and as Lily was a more meek and bookish type of person she was really struggling. Jason listened intently as Lily explained how she was lonely and wasn't a fan of the move, Jason had assured her that this would pass but it had been a month now and Jason knew if he didn't do something soon, Lily would grow to resent him for this move.

Jason listens to Lily, he needed to introduce Lily to some new people and well seeing as how the only people Jason really knew where his coworkers he comes up with an idea, "baby what if one weekend we host a barbecue at ours, I'll invite everyone from work and you can get to know them, they can bring their partners and hopefully you can make some friends." Lily looks at her husband curiously, Jason notoriously hated hosting big events like this not particularly enjoying the planning or the clean up "are you serious, I thought you hated throwing parties?" Lily asked "oh I do but I think this would be a great way to meet people for you and you know I'd do anything for you" Jason says with a smile. Lily pulls Jason in for a big hug "thank you baby", Jason hugs his wife happy that she was no longer upset.

Jason wasn't looking forward to planning this barbecue, or the fact that he would basically have to spend the whole day in front of the grill, or the clean up but as he looked at his wife, he knew it would be worth it.
