January Weekend 1: Leah agrees to commit to D&D...

Leah took a few more bites of food before delivering her answer.

"It sounds like a big commitment for sure," she said, watching Jonathan’s expression carefully. He almost looked like a puppy, eager for any sign of approval. "But it might be fun, and I think it would be cute for us to do something like that together. Count me in!" Jonathan’s face lit up like a Christmas tree at her response. Leah's heart melted at his excitement.

"Really? You sure?" Jonathan could hardly believe his ears.

“Yeah,” Leah replied, smiling at his enthusiasm. “I love you, so I guess I'll love spending time doing this with you.” Her words were music to Jonathan's soul. She wasn’t just going along for the ride; she was committing to the whole damn road trip.

“This is gonna be awesome,” Jonathan exclaimed. “We’ll have snacks, maybe order pizza—there will be a ton of laughs.”

“Okay okay,” Leah laughed, waving her hands in mock surrender. “I’m in, I’m in. Besides, it could be fun to learn something new together.”

Leah savored the sweet way Jonathan looked at her, like she'd just agreed to spend their lives together all over again. Jonathan went on a tare talking about all the aspects of the game and hyping up how fun it would be. Leah tried to take it all in but it was so much. But she knew he was excited about it and it would be fun to enjoy some time with him at home doing something new.

After dinner the night was routine as ever. But Leah dreaded what the school week would bring with it. It hadn’t even been a full week of classes with students and things already felt rough.
